Is it a deep one? I make some stovetop stews like pepper steak in a ss skillet, its very delicious but needs to be deep enough for gravy. Also make "hamburger-macaroni casserole" another skillet fave.
Pepper steak:
1.5 lb beef, cubed
1 large green pepper, cubed
1 large red pepper, cubed
2 med onions cubed
3-4 plum tomatoes cubed
1-2 tbsp minced garlic
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup olive oil
1 tbsp corn starch
About 4 cups rice
Marinade cubed beef in soy sauce, oil and garlic for 12 hours. Pour into pan and brown the beef. Add 1 cup water, cover and simmer about 15-20 min. Add peppers and onions, let simmer another 10 minutes. Add tomato, stir and then slowly add cornstarch to thicken the gravy.
Serve over rice.
Hamburger Macaroni casserole
1 lb elbow macaroni, cooked and drained
1 lb ground meat, browned and drained
16 oz can of Italian tomatoes
1 to 2 cups grated cheddar cheese
1 cup beef broth
In large skillet, mix browned beef, elbow macaroni, canned tomato and beef broth. Cover and simmer about 10 min. Top with grated cheddar, let simmer a few minutes until cheese is melted. A Kids fave! My hubby really likes it also but he adds Tabasco sauce to give it that extra "kick"
