My personal experience is that you will be better off buy them prepared and prepackaged. Why ? It will save you time and effort. The price difference between what you pay for them and if you prepare from scratch is not much.
The reason is that they buy their meat in bulk which is cheaper than what I and you pay.
The example is like this , if you buy a loaf of meat which is 8 pounds the end product will be less than 4 pounds. You can buy 4 pound of those strips for almost double the price of raw meat.
I am a man with a plan. A plan to live a simple , fulfilling life.

I think I know what you are talking about.
You don't usually boil beef strips. You marinate them with whatever masala, but be sure to add some tenderizer. For a healthier option, they can be baked in the oven or broiled. They cook fast... or even on a grill pan.... or fry them.
Happiness often sneaks in through a door you didn't know you left open...

She is talking about gyro strips , shawarma strips, and breakfast meat strips.
I do not know how they make them , I buy them pre-cooked and pre-packaged from Arab stores. But what Niki and you are saying seems right.

ahh her pepper and onions theew me off.
yeah as far as shawarma goes, i can get it frozen from local stores and its pretty good and quick to make.
what youhave to be careful is to see what preservatives etc are there. some brands have stuff in it, some dont and are just frozen, shelf life is not great, but i would rather have the dilemma of going thru stuff before it goes bad than eating stuff with carcinogens like nitrates/nitirites in it, or high sodium.

Thanks for you tips. I will be careful from now on about that. I do check the expiry dates , but did not check for those carcinogens in anything I buy.

MiamisX (your nick is toooooooooooooooooooooo long ), try marinating with crushed red pepper flakes, garlic, oil, vinegar, tenderizer, black pepper...put everything in blender and soak the strips in the marinade for a few hours.
Regarding shwarma, you need a special rotating thingie over a flaming thingie for that. Don't think you can achieve the results at home.

One tip do not put those strips in the blender when you are blending all that concoction Niki is telling you. Instead of gyro strips you will end up with gyro soup.
