Survive may be a strong word, but how many days can you comfortably stay without it ..
I confess that in my case, maybe 4 .. max 5 days .. I need my daal chawal achaar, aaloo gosht and roti, or briyani after that .. that also home cooked, not carry out
oh and on 6th day, if its still not available, what food style would bring you closer to your desi taste .. in my case its Arabic food

I like eating other non desi stuff, sure. But after a vacation, I like to come home and have simple desi khana.

If I had a choice, I would not stay away for more than couple of meals. But if on vacation or whatever, I could not bear more than a week. I would feel sort of withdrawal symptoms and will look for desi food items in nearby area.
I think its the masala, red pepper and pita which gives the addiction of desi food. However, for some reason even mexican spicy food is not good enough.
I must admit I have eaten a little desi food at home even after having been invited to non-desi house or resturant.
At times I prefer staying at full kitchen hotel just to be able to make simple desi food at leisure.
After eating so many international food I found there is nothing better than desi food. !
Impress me..with your intelligence and wit. :-)

A couple of weeks max... but I could give up on it for longer if I have the option of eating mediterranean everyday... that stuff is scrumptious!

The most I can survive without eating desi food is 4-5 days. And especially home cooked desi food. Desi food from restaurants is yummy, BUT after a while it starts become heavy and you get sick of it....and start longing for the simple taste of homemade saluns. I remember when my mom and dad (they both cook, hehe) went to Pak to attend my cousin's wedding......my siblings and I had pizza, Olive Garden, food from Indian restaurants. It was getting overwhelming....and all we wanted when my parents came back was.......good ole' homemade DAAL!

First 2 1/2 months. then 6 months. But in those 6 months i would try making desi food on my own and it'd come out just bad.
