Sometimes recipes call for using these cake mixes as a base and I always wonder whats the difference and can they be interchanged without MUCH of a difference?

anyone know, if a recipe calls for one of these mixes, does it make a big difference if you substitute with another one

I honestly didn't know myself, so I just googled it and this is what I came up with:

What's the difference between German chocolate and regular, everyday chocolate? - Yahoo!7 Answers

What is the difference between a devil's food cake and a chocolate cake? - Yahoo! Answers

So going by these, German Chocolate cake has coconut added. Devil's food cake is richer with more cocoa and sugar used (I believe). So I'm sure if you took an ordinary chocolate cake recipe and just tweaked it a bit to add the necessary ingredients, it could be interchangeable.
