I was just thinking of all these things that you don't eat on a normal basis.
I hate caviar so much. I've tried it many times and although I've tried to enjoy it, I end up being very nauseated just at the thought of eating raw fish eggs and they are so slimy.
However, I love mussels which are also slimy. At the same time, oysters are similar and I'm not fond of them.
I've never tried escargot but my brother loves it and I'm just disgusted at the thought of it.
Then there are pigeons. omg! I see them everywhere and I don't like how they look I don't know how people can eat them!
Overall I'm not a seafood person but love lobsters and certain fish. I just can't stand the smell of it.
Have you guys tried any of these and if so what did you think?

i have these all the time my dear.... i am married to a frenchie...
Caviar (if a good quality one is used) is really good... you can have it with good cheese and cracker (rupayHalwas ears must be burning now) or on blinis...

I love mussels...yummy!
I do not like lobster...dont understand the hype either. Ive tried it a couple of times and it tastes like rubber with butter...
I hate shrimp..............YUCK!
I like salmon, white fish, mahi mahi, butterfish, halibut, swordfish...many more. Love fish.
Ive seen people eat oysters...there is actually an oyster-fest that takes place in Chicago every year for people who love oysters...and there are many. I just cant stand the things!
Never tried caviar or escargot...never wanted to.

Yeah, i have to force escargot down RH... i only have them when i'm at the in-laws in france, and they rarely have them, but when we do i feel bad that i'll offend them, so i just pick it out and swallow it quickly... they don't taste that bad, they're just slimey!
Other than that, i don't mind, as i'm not fussy... i've tried a lot of different foods, some really weird... but hey you only live once

PSquared: A lot of people don't know how to cook lobster properly... they just butcher it.. hence why it turns out rubbery....
If you're ever over in the UK, come over to ours, my hubby will cook all the foods you've listed as dislikes, and you'll change your mind out them

For some reason I'm squeamish about mussels, oysters and other molluscs except for scallops, which are ok at times. Cannot bring myself to even taste mussels. Wouldn't dream of touching a snail (Maroush said it all, slimey!).
I wouldn't have a problem with eating pigeon meat.
One must make a mark in this world, if I am remembered for anything, let it be cheese and crackers...

I have tried mussels/oysters/clams and do NOT like them at all. And I had what was considered a good variety or whatever, as everyone else who was having them was raving so much about how good they were so I tried. I was disgusted. I also hate scallops. I love all sorts of Fish & also Shrimp. I like crab/lobster that is cooked with something else, but do not like say a crab leg steamed or a lobster tail. They don't necessarily taste bad, but just not so delicious/appetizing either. But I love crab cakes made with fresh crab meat and less bread crumbs....yummm.'
Never had escargot/caviar & never will try them...ewwwwwww

I used to love Caviar , until I had some at Marriot in Islamabad a few years ago .. and almost threw up! ewwww it was pathetic .. after that one time it was never the same ... my love for Caviar just vanished ..
I have had oyster , its yukh... Squid is even terrible ... I hate fish but can stand sushi just about a tiny bit ... I am not really a big fan of sea food ... boah ...

the issue is that most places dont make them well.
psquared if you want some good yet sensibly priced lobster or crab go to bob chins on milwaukee ave around Northbrook/deerfield area.
overdone lobster, squid, octops will always become rubbery, its like ovedone steak that becomes too hard.
it has to be fresh, it has to be decent quality and the person making it better know how to make it.
oyster etc i have had, I dont mind it, not a big fan though.
sushi on the other hand..yum..

I'm not much of a seafood person myself. I developed a love and taste for shrimp about less than two years ago. And only recently, in the past few months, have I developed a taste...for crab meat....in the form of crab rangoon. I don't like the strong fishy smell of certain seafoods. So my taste for seafood is only confined to these two things (fried shrimp and crab rangoon).
As far as slimy is concerned......I think egg-drop soup is gross cuz it's slimy. and the slimy feeling lingers in the throat. And I don't like okra (bhindi) because I think it's slimy. So.....based on these tow facts.......I don't think i'll be trying mussels or oysters or caviar anytime soon. LOL

I cant stand the clams either ... ! they freak me out ..
