Someone told me that the meat (especially lamb) that comes from Australia and is available in stores like Costco is halal. Is that true?

I heard its about 70% of it is halal, bcos they cater for the middle eastern market so the some of the slaughtering is halal, but not all.
One must make a mark in this world, if I am remembered for anything, let it be cheese and crackers...

usually the lamb we find in regular grocery stores here in canada is from new zealand...maybe australia, i'm not sure. but it is halal. it's wrapped in green plastic, with a halal stamp on it. and you get like a leg. pretty convenient if you ask me.

Lafantar what do u have to say on this issue. Maybe you could do some researcha nd find out from the source, austrialia it self
well i ve never bought meat from costco never had the need, since i live in uk. but like someone above said its thought to be 70% hala, actually it wudnt be hala, it has to be 100% hala for it to be halal for muslims.

^ I know what you mean, but what I mean that apparently 70% of the stock is halal and 30% is not, but its not labelled, i.e. the halal stuff is not labelled halal, its all packaged under 1 banner, new zealand lamb.
Quite frankly I don't understand why lamb is imported into this country bcos the fresh lamb we have here is really nice.

Ive seen halal lamb from New Zealand in some grocery stores here (in Canada). Its always labelled. But I have never bought it, I prefer to get mine fresh from the farm!!
