In Love

Now ladies (and gents) I realise Ramadan is on it's way and after a meeting with my manager at work (I work in a place that deals with Children and their parents providing play sessions etc) I have been given the excellent task of organising our Ramadan and Eid activities, decorations and festivities.

My manager felt that I would put more effort into it as I understand Ramadan better than someone who well doesn't fast/celebrate Eid.

I'm so chuffed to be given such a fab job-my only issue is I'm running thin on ideas!

I have come up with the following:

activity: making Eid Cards and banners (possibly Eid mobiles with stars and cresent moons in gold colour)
Delivering the Story of Eid and Ramadan via storybook sacks/bags. Not sure how I would do it but it's an idea....
Having a display suitable for children (e.g. no big words) on a wall with information on why we fast and how Ramadan is celebrated around the world.
For decorations tissue paper puff balls strung on string to decorate the centre. I thought about lights but have a feeling we'll have to look at risk assessments due to electricity usage.
Eid Party (after Eid) so Muslim and none-muslim mummies can mingle over (hopefully!!!) a samosa or two!

As I am yet to be blessed with children I am struggling to find activities that I could do with children-both muslim and none muslim. To be honest in our family Eid is celebrated in simple formatting of Eid Prayers, greeting elders and then Dinner. Most of the men then return to work after the meal. I wish more was put into Eid and Ramadan but noone seems to be as bothered as me. Bah hum!

So my question to any parents/aunts/uncles is what activities do you do with little ones in your family which I could so with the children at work?

looking forward to a reply.

Princess

PS, I know Ramadan inshallah commences in late August however we need to put things into place before then, hope that makes sense?
