Have people coming over on Sunday and I need no-fail desserts...no kheer/seviyan and no halwa's! NO gulab jamuns either..
Some days are a complete waste of make-up!

This is the easiest recipe out there and always a hit. I call it 'Strawberry/Pineapple' delight.
Ingredients
1 can pineapple chunks
fresh strawberries (if used frozen then well thawed and water squeezed out)
pound/yellow cake
sweetened condensed milk
whip cream
cream cheese (optional)
(I don't use Cream cheese to save some calories since rest of the ingredients are already high in fat).
Mix whip cream, cream cheese and condensed milk. Spread cake in a dessert serving bowl. Layer pineapple and strawberries on top of cake. Lastly pour in the whip cream/condensed milk mixture. You can decorate with some pineapple and strawberries on the top if you want. Served chill.

Tiramisu works as the easiest one to make for me. Whip some mascarpone with sugar. Dip the lady fingers in coffee and do the layering. You could optionally do fresh strawberries OR chocolate shavings in the layers. Always turns out yum.. totally fool proof in my opinion. No cooking, no baking, the guests love it

Put a layer of frozen fruit yogurt in it too. Like strawberry.
I think either vanilla icecream, strawberry yogurt then mango icecream would be nice, or instead of mango ice cream, use chocolate.
One must make a mark in this world, if I am remembered for anything, let it be cheese and crackers...

Now if you really want to impress, I would suggest either a 3 ways dessert, or a trio.
A large square plate, with a shot glass of chocolate mousse on it, a small square of chocolate cream cake, and something else, like a stewed pear with chocolate sauce.
Or a shot glass with chocolate mousse, a square of cheese cake and some strawberry ice-cream.
Dredge some cocoa and / or icing sugar around the plate, over a chocolate cafe stick thing, a few slices of strawberry etc. Looks good, taste good.

Defenition off of wikipedia:
Pound cake refers to a type of cake traditionally made with a pound of each of four ingredients: flour, butter, eggs, and sugar. However, the quantity is often changed to suit the size of the cake that is desired. As long as the ratio is preserved, the resulting cake will generally be very similar to that using the traditional quantities. Hence, any cake made with a 1:1:1:1 ratio of flour, butter, eggs, and sugar is also called a pound cake, even if the quantity used is smaller or larger than an actual pound.
Actually for this particular recipe you can use any of the following cakes.

My no-fail desserts are:
mixed fruit sponge trifle
lemon drizzle loaf
chocolate fudge cake
chocolate brownies
bakewell tart cupcakes
Desi sweets are not really my strength although I'd love to me able to make barfis etc confidently as I make cakes.
