I brought some basa fillets today and I really fancy trying to make some masala style dish with them.

I havnt had masala fish for about 11+ years, and I cant remember how my mum to used make it.

So apart from buy a ready made mix...recipes anyone?

Oh and is basa fish ok for to be made into masala fish?

No replies so I thought I'd try to help, tho it's probably too late. Don't know what masala is typically used, but why don't u just try the normal tandoori masala with mashed garlic / ginger / lemon / chilli thing? Marinate for a while then fry / roast in the oven?

My mum puts ground ajwain seeds in her spice mix for fish (i don't really like it tho).

I ended up buying Shaan packet masala. NEVER AGAIN! It was awful, they just hoy in whatever spices the want. Whole corriander seeds and crushed chillies thats all it was. Foul.

I cannit ask me mum.

I shall have to do the whole embarrassing calling up one of my aunties to see what they use for next time.

buy masala fish from a halal meat shop. they usually have masala fish that you just need to fry.
