I need a tested and tried, fairly easy recipe of gajar ka halwa. Please include measurements in cups and spoons not grams
Thank you.

ok here goes nikki..
4 cups of grated carrots .
put then in the pot and start stirrig them.. so the water dries out .. it should take you about 10 minutes ... make sure the carrots dont get burnt you gotta stir it continuously.
add about 1.5 cup milk... let the carrots boil in it ..cover the pot , lighten the fire and let it simmer.
When the milk dries after about 15 minutes ... add in about 2-3 tablespoons of ghee or oil and start frying the carrots on high medium heat ... this should be done for about 20-25 minutes ... the halwa will start taking shape now ...
add sugar to taste
then final step, add about four tablespoons of dry milk powder ( Nido ) little by little into the halwa ..and stir very fast .... if you think its become very thick, just add a bit of fresh milk and let it simmer ... add almonds, a bit of rose water, shredded coconut, mish mish and you are pretty much done ...

I boil the carrots in milk.. till they are dry.. and remove the carrots. In a seperate pot I heat ghee and add in green cardamom (just the seeds) and cook till the carrots are warm again.. before I add-in the sugar. When the mixture cools I add the milk powder or crumbled khoya.
Some days are a complete waste of make-up!

Gina , for how long do you boil the carrots in milk? and how much milk do you put in ?
I used to do it this way and it would take me at least an hour and a half ... to get the halwa done ... so I suspcted I was doing something wrong ... now that you mention it , i am keen to find out what i was doing wrong
