Salaam everyone, Ramadan mubarak
I need some cute ideas to garnish or present kajoors or some different recipes of things to make with them. I'm having an iftar party and don't want to do the same old boring plain plate with plain kajoors on them.
Some ideas I've gotten so far:
- slice kajoor in half and stuff with crushed pistachio (cute looks like gulab jamun)
- slice kajoor in half and stuff with whip cream
Any other ideas? Please include pics if you can.

I served majdool dates stuffed with a single almond and rolled in dried and shredded coconut with some silver to decorate last night.
Now I'm going to think of something else for the next party.....

How did you make shredded coconut stick to the date? Majdool's skin is soft but dry .. did you peel the skin off?

I usually use those store bought chocolate dates with an almond inside them.
Or i serve dates drizzled with coffee cream and vanilla ice cream.
Or i stuff them with pecan nuts and cream.
Or i stuff them with cream and sprinkle with pistachio nuts.

Pine nuts go well with Dates, as do Almonds.

I'm trying to do something exotic. Maybe stuff it with mango pulp? How does that sound?

Made Date cake today... will post recipe in a while. Its kind of like cold cake... Mum liked it!
You can make the cake, when it cools down, cut into small pieces and serve as you'd serve normal dates..

I've had dates stuffed with orange peel (cooked over slow flame with sugar) it was really nice.
Another way is to heat them up slightly.. slit them and fill them with peanut butter ( a very small amount) then coat it with crushed biscuits and nuts.
Some days are a complete waste of make-up!

Here it is ManoRani... (im writing the quantities too, but you can add/less acc to ur requirements)
DATE CAKE
1. Dates (remove seeds): 2 cups
2. Marie biscuits : 1 pack
3. Dessicated coconut : 1/2 cup
4. Sugar : 1/2 cup
5. Cooking Oil : 1/2 cup.
Warm cooking oil in a pan and add the mashed dates and stir thoroughly to form a paste. Add sugar and coconut and cook for further 10-15 mins... Crush marie biscuits into crumb form.Add crushed biscuits to the date mixture and cook for 5 mins. Remove from fire and spread onto a greased plate/dish. Let it cool down....
Whip some fresh cream till it becomes thick. Pour over the date cake. Cut into squares... Garnish n serve!
(Didn't use any fresh cream on mine though.....)

You can stuff pitted dates with whipped cream.......cream cheese........mascarpone cheese....Nutella chocolate spread..........Caramel spread/sauce. And then you add a nut of your choice in the date (almond, pistachio, pecan, walnut). Some people choose to add roasted almonds.
And then you can buy the little paper cupcake holders.......and arrange the dates in them for a fun look.
