I....feel like talking about knives and other kitchen utensils..since I dont see a thread on em.
They're considered an investment and that's so true...but since a whole set is just too expensive (really good brands like Wusthof can run into the thousands!) and sets are generally considered useless and a waste of space/money... which particular knives would u buy?
when i started cooking, I used one particular knife that..again...i took it frm my parents house. never paid attention to the brand or make of it, until i used knives from walmart etc. and man were they horrible. the difference was very obvious.

I have always wanted to buy the wushtof knioves.. I used them once at someone's house and I was in love! I dunno if I will ever be able to spend that much on a set though!
Lately I have one favorite knife that I bought from Marshall's about 8 months ago.. Apparently's it a no name brand knife but I LOVE it!!
by the way how can we tell the lasting sharpness/accuracy of a knife just by looking at it??! Any idea?

I dunno i tried it by cutting something....oh man...the one I have beats the others any day.
Btw, I found out that knife I have is a Wusthof Gourmet. All ths time i thought Gourmet was the knife brand and wusthof was just some serial numbers/letters they put on it
I just bought a Martha Stewart Santoku (?) knife and I like it ALOT..but the blade is thick and wide... I bought another one, JAHenckles, but I haven't used it yet. both were on sale.

Either way, its mine lol
i did buy a set of steak knives from ja henckles, but I didnt like them...so i returend them. Macy's is great!

I got hooked on a good knife when my brother started borrowing from his butcher.
The butcher had a service that would replaces all their knives on a weekly basis; my brother made friends and took one of them home. He would simply take the knife back when the sharpening service was to come in and he would get it replaced. Voila! A perfectly sharpened knife all the time.
Eventually I went looking for a good one and found it. I can't remember now what the name is but it works really great.
The blade is wide and long and the whole tool is perfectly weighted so that it slices through the softest tomato and the thickest hunk of meat with the same pressure from my hand. I never get tired no matter how much I have to work.
I see people working with paring knives, struggling with their tasks and wonder why they haven't tried the knives that they see professional chefs using.....
