After u turn off the heat from the pressure cooker, ALWAYS ALLOW IT TO COOL FIRST. Then using a long handle of a spoon, slightly pull the weight thing upwards to release the steam. ONLY AFTER THE STEAM HAS ALL BEEN RELEASED THAT WAY, TAKE OFF THE LID.

VERY DANGEROUS OTHERWISE.

I think the heat may have been set to high?

- but overall I think the cookers are not bad! they are excellent if you know how to use them. I think both times that it had happened - I was in a rush to have something on the table cause I was late from work/traffic and on top of that I had to clean up the mess

i too have a brand new pressure cooker still in the box that my mom gave me after the wedding....and have no clue how to use!
