My mom makes it really good but somehow I can't get hold of her & I wanna make it right now.
Online search is just grind red chilies, garlic & salt with water. That kind of doesn't sound right.
I am thinking
Boil whole red chillies & then grind them with garlic, tamarind pulp, salt & maybe a little zeera.
I am talking about the chutney that is also served with "Besan Ki Roti"
Even a Smile can be Charity!

You can do it by grining chilles, garlic, salt and water as suggested and then add a bhagar with zeera.
When I'm in a rush I just mix chilli powder, garlic powder salt and water - that works too.

^Hey that sounds interesting. Thanks for sharing tigerlily.
I did some "tukkas" last evening with the quantity of ingredients. It didn't have the "shakal" my mom's made chutney has but it tasted almost right. Here is how I made it.
20 whole red chillies (boiled)
6 garlic cloves (lehsan)
3 full teaspoon tamarind pulp (imli)
1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds (zeera)
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup water.
Grind everything together & voila.

Oh I didn't know that. What lowers the cholesterol? Besan? My mom makes the roti like parathas. Really cooks them with oil. So they are pretty heavy but yummy.
& your welcome

achchhaa...oh...besan kii roTii without all the ghee is a good thing to eat...lahsun lowers the cholestral
when i was a kid in my village...almost everyday we wud spread lahsun kii chaTnii on the bread and have it for a healthy snack
we, also used to have chapaatii roll with pure sarsoN kaa tel on it with ground black pepper, a pinch of salt and ground podina [mint]...its was so yummmy!
i wanna tell you what happened on my last day of the my last visit to India. i was ready to leave home to catch a overnight train to Delhi to take my flight back to Toronto. we're talking and then all of a sudden i remembered that i didn't have this chapaatii roll on my this trip. my neice sprang into action...she made 5 rolls. i had 2 right there and took 3 for the train journey. i had it for breakfast on the train the next morning just b4 arriving into Delhi...i loved it...i gave a thousand rupees to my neice for her quick thought to make rolls for me
Allah usko sadaa Khush rakkhe...aameen

Sum Ameen. That was really thoughtful of her & actually really cute.
You mention so many different foods that I have never heard of. I know Lucknowi people are famous for their variety of food. You know what you should do open up your own thread & post Lucknowi food recipes. Something similar to what Bint e Adam does. I bet so many ladies are gonna praise you a lot.
