I used to have a gas stove that you had to light a match to get it going.....Now i have a stove where the fire comes on if u turn the knob. Im sure u all know what i am talking about (cz i sure dont' )

Even when it's completely off (the knobs are at zero), i find its still warm....if i look closely from a different angle, i always see a tiny spark underneath, if that makes any sense......I dont want to spray any cleaner or chemical for fear of setting it off, so i am just using wipes....but they dont do a good job for heavy cleaning.

I'm not sure if this makes any sense, but how do I clean such a stove? im pretty sure I cant unplug it

That's called a pilot light that is always on so when you turn the knob, it helps light the burner flame.

If you spray a cleaner directly on the burners, the pilot will go off so later, you can usea regular lighter to light the gas and turn the pilot back on.

And if you don't light it back up, you will smell gas.

So the best thing to do is to clean that area, spray the cleaner on a wet cloth rather than the surface.

That is the pilot light (or flame) that you see. Its always on. If you accidently turn it off, you just light a match to start the fire and that will re-light the pilot.

Not many people realize but you can literally swing up the stove top like you open a suitcase. You should be able to separation line towards the front of your oven, an inch under the cook top and oven. hold the cook top from both sides along that groove (separation line) and lift it up. That way you can clean the underside of your cook top also.

I am sorry, on purpose I searched for an old stove picture. I am sure yours must be a much newer version.

Look at the groove that I pointed out with a red arrow. push your fingers inside that groove at location 1 and 2 (more towards the side, not towards the front of the stove) and try to lift it up like you open a suitcase. Just try it a little at first, then remove all the cooktop grills and what not before opening the top

My electric stove has really bad burn marks around the burner areas..I've tried scrubbing them off a lot but they just dont go away I've tried cleaners too, don't help much.. any tips or tricks to help?

just 2 weeks and its already a hard mess....wont come off. any good cleaners? i used pine sol cleaner (hey the label said its safe for stoves and appliances!)

no i think its pretty clean underneath. its the top thats dirty. the stove was brand new when we moved in.

You need a metal and grease cleaner... like an oven cleaner or grill cleaner. This may have fumes so spray and leave for an hour. Meanwhile go shopping. Blow up some serious $$. WHen you return your hubby will be home like so you go totally mad like and clean up your stove

okay nother question, so i was playing with the pilot light and lighter (oo my moms worst nightmare ) is it better to leave the pilot light on or just turn it off and use the lighter when i need to?

In my experience...Lysol 4 in 1 is awesome for cleaning anything from pots and pans to stoves and countertops. Spray and leave it for a few minutes before cleaning it off.
