A list of some restaurants I go to. Desi life here revolves around going to masjid on Friday, eating out at the few good restaurants, and catching a Bollywood movie. Everyone knows where the masjid is, and where the Bollywood movies are played, so I thought I would list a few restaurants I have been to.
Jameela's Chinese - The restaurant's sign says Islamic Chinese food. Very popular, and the food is much like the Chinese food served in other Chinese restaurants.
Bijan - Persian food. First choice for Persian food for many people
Fadis - Middle eastern food. I go there for shawarma for lunch.
Royal Restaurant - average Pakistani food, but popular due to its location
Madras Pavillion - Good place for Dosa. Tries to be an upscale place, but just having linen on the table doesn't make a place upscale.
Paisa Koi Cheez Nahi Hai - Jay-Z and JD

Two bakeries with the most amazing stuff are on hillcroft...hot breads..their cakes and pastries are to die for, and sweet factory-middle eastern cookies and sweets like baklava.
also, theres this new place called Halal Chinese on Bellaire owned by a Muslim guy but has all chinese staff. The food is very much chinese but spicy.good one to try.

I used to go Jameela Garden, most of the time I ordered soup bowl.
but last time I tried chicken and rice dish, and it was good.
I also went to Darband. It was also good experience.

There is a Persial restaurant called Saffron on Hillcroft. Went there during lunch. Maybe I went a little early, but not a single customer and prices are through the roof. $15 for a kebab Soltani plate? $13 for some other kind of kebab. Plus persian food is served dry. If you want the yogurt or something else, have to pay $2.99 - $5.99. So basically gora restaurant pricing.
Something tells me a certain Persian restaurant is about to close.
