There was a huge piece of land lying vacant on the backyard of a Masjid.
Some people associated with masjid wanted to utilise that land in such a way that it brings some income to the management.
A meeting was organised. It was decided to sow sugarcane (Ganna) on that land.
It was unanimously approved as ganna is a cashable crop and can easily be sold, people coming to the masjid can also taste it for free.
But a man raised an objection.
He said, " Maulavi Saab !! This meeting has passed a nice resolution to sow ganna but I have a hunch....can I speak ?
Maulavi : Oh yes ! man speak out ,speak out.
Man : Janab ! You see a huge population of jhuggi jhonpri just outside.
These people will not spare our crop. They will certainly steal our crop of gannas.
Everyone in the meeting supported this apprehension. So it was decided to burn the unauthorised jhuggi jhonpri colony in the darkness of night.
At night the whole colony was engulfed in flames and people were running helter and skelter.
The head of the colony came to Maulvi saab and asked with folded hands,
" Huzoor !! Hamara kasoor to bataiye ?"
Maulvi replied," Aur todo ganne, aur khao ganne"
