WHEN THE WORD FITS...
One of my ESL students wrote: "The fireman came out of the building
pregnant." When I asked him to explain, he showed me the word pregnant in
the dictionary, which defined it as "carrying a child."
WHEN THE EXCUSES ROLL FOR NOT DOING MATH HOMEWORK...
I have a solar-powered calculator, and it was cloudy.
WHEN THE ANSWER IS KIND OF INEVITABLE...
Teaching longitude and latitude, I asked, "Suppose I said lets meet
for lunch at 23 degrees, 4 minutes north latitude and 45 degrees, 15
minutes east longitude?"
After a confused silence, one student answered, "I guess you'd be
eating alone."
