Thats in the centre of Karachi. From FB Area, like Asiha Manzil, take the road to Liaquatabad and after passing the fly-over, turn right towards Nazimabad and Golimar from Dhak Khana, Liaqatabad. Its about 10 minutes off-peak drive. Peak drive is like 25 min.

What was the reason behind naming this place? Or does it mean different from obvious meaning which comes to the mind.

No idea. But the area is named as such before the creation of the country.

According to Wikipedia, "... The name "GOLIMAR" comes from the combination of two words GOLI(bullet) and MAR(fire) of sindhi language, as before the partition of Pakistan golimar was the shooting range of British Army..."
