I was in Karachi for a course and stayed at the Defence club in Clifton for abt 5 weeks ......its very safe , clean , the staff were courteous and helpful and the food was excellent !
I'd highly recommend it , but I think you will need to know someone who is a member to be allowed to stay as their guest !
Guns don't kill people ! Dads with pretty daughters Do !

What sort of price range am I looking at? In such hostels you get a room for yourself? do you have shared bathroom facilities? And I am guessing that the food is provided for?

You get your own room with en suite bath .....they have different rooms , single , duplex etc.......
The rooms were spacious , had the usual tv , mini refridgerator stocked up and they also have a gym and swimming pool and beauty saloon and also provide laundvry facilities .
Depending on the room your looking at like 2500-3000 per night for a single !

Try Harmain Hotel in Saddar. Some expatriat ladies from GS, stayed there earlier and found it safe and good.

There are many other hotel at Tariq Road but before boarding there you need to check if there are no hanky panky activities there.

Ariel.......its more important that you avoid shady places and most places that are cheap would be suspect .
I would advise you to pay the little extra and assure your at a safe and decent place. Just because a place is for women only does not make it safe .......
I think some colleges have hostels too like the FRCP campus....you could try that !
