Anyone know of a reliable and economical car rental place in Lahore? I'm looking to rent a car there (with a driver) for my upcoming trip in sept/oct, for 3 weeks...
Also, how much should i expect to pay for this service?
Thanks in advance!

DM, try AVIS, theres a branch at every airport in Pakistan but I dont know whether they offer a driver or not. You might get a private driver who owns a car for around Rs. 1500 per day (excluding gas I think).

LOL @ Saieen
Spock: Thanks...i checked the avis site as well, and i thought they were overpriced...it was showing something like 50,000 rs. for 3 weeks for a corolla - that too without a driver! that turns out to 2400 rs./day almost...and yea, gas is always excluded from that price...
last yr i was in pak in march, and i got a civic with a driver for 1200 rs./day + gas, for a few days...but that was a hookup through a connection, who is no longer in pak,and thus can't help out...
i wouldn't mind if it's upto 1500 rs./day...any suggestions on how to get in touch with private drivers who do that?
Thanks again!

dm, let me ask someone, we had a former driver, very trustworthy guy who moved to lahore, but unfortunately his family suffered bigtime in the quake in 05, so not sure where he is these days. Before 05, he would be hired by our relatives visiting abroad.

Forget Avis, it's ridiculously overpriced.
Ask a relative to take you to a rental shop one day and you'll find half a dozens other shops in the area. They're all located next to each other. I cant tell you specifics because I'm not from Lahore, but trust me... they wont be hard to find. A directory might help.
1500 PKR sounds reasonable. You'll manage to snag something even cheaper if you commit to 3 weeks. I also noticed, oddly enough, that cars from these small outfits cost less with drivers than without drivers. It must be a liability issue.

Last time I needed a rent-a-car in Lahore, my brother-in-law arranged that through a friend who runs a rent-a-car company. I don't know whether that friend is still around, but I'll ask my BIL.
