I'm not sure about hair wax, but hair gel dries your hair out...it also makes it brittle. 22.1 . O mankind! Fear your Lord . Lo! the earthquake of the Hour ( of Doom ) is a tremendous thing . -

basically anything that covers your hair for more than 2-3 hours and doesn't let it breathe is bad, yes even a hat. Rabul MashriqaiN wal MaghribaiN -

Test two...When your hair is wet, gently select a strand and
gently pull it from the root. Don't pull it out, just "tight."
Healthy hair will stretch about 25-35% of its full length before
breaking if it is healthy hair. If it snaps immediately, it is
damaged.
Split ends are another sign that your hair is in the stage of
damage. Infrequent trims will cause the damaged ends to continue
up the shaft until all of the hair is damaged. Split ends are
a sign that the ends aren't getting enough moisture and has
reduced protein levels.
The last sign to look for is how long your style is holding.
When hair gets dehydrated, it has a very hard time holding
the style. The elasticity in the hair is diminished which
causes the hair not to bounce back or stay springy. (This
isn't to be confused with hairstyles that fall because of
humidity, overdue haircuts, or bad hair days.) -
Oct 4th, 2002 11:23 AM #17 Here are a few tips to help stressed hair...
Mix 2 tablespoons of mayonaisse with 1/2 teaspoon honey.
Apply to dry hair. Leave on 15-20 minutes. Sit in the sun
or use a hair dryer to get the most out of this treatment.
Rinse with seltzer water. (This will remove all the residue)
Shampoo and condition afterwards... -

some more tips.
Apply 1/2 cup of whipped cream to dry hair. Leave this on
30 minutes. Rinse and shampoo and condition...
Olive oil...
Apply olive oil to the hair and concentrate the oil on the
ends that are dry. Wrap in saran wrap and cover with a towel.
Leave on 30 minutes. Shampoo and condition...
Break open a vitamin e capsule and apply the oil to dry hair.
Leave on 15 minutes and then shampoo it out...
If your hair sufferes from the frizzies, or your perm isn't
as calm as you would like, blend an avocado with an egg yolk.
Work the mixture through the hair, making sure each strand
is covered well. Leave a minimum of 15 minutes. Rinse will
lukewarm, (not hot), water and then shampoo... -
