As I was running down the steps to rush through into the subway I met this fella whom I've know through friends. Decent, he is and so is his family. I actually was fond of him but not of his choices in the company he had. Although his brother is quite the person masha'Allah. He's a pilot, you see (yes, you can imagine what screening he had to go through after 9/11). We use to meet each Ramadan at the mosque waking each other up every Qayam ul lail. Oh man we were always up to no good buggin' the old farts there trying to snore...i mean sleep the night away.
The kind of person he is, he really lights up the room and believe me I can confidently say, no one that I have met until now has been able to do that like him. He is pure in essence and innocent in nature. The way he conveyed his message was very jolly and uplifting as if everything else does not matter.
I stood there on the subway in shock with his brother, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I wish it weren't true. I'm still in denial. We both stood there with a huge gulp stuck in our throat and tears holding back in near sight just so we wouldn't have to deal with it then.
I dunno what I'm trying to achieve here by typing all this out. I guess its the mere fact that I miss him. He's gone. He just anti-up and left. We met every Friday prayer and tommorrow I won't see him and I can't come to terms with it. Usually death is not such a big ordeal with me even in family but I don't know why this has stuck on. Its not fair. If its true that good people are taken first then I'm very bitter about it because I now wish he was a little bit bad so he could've stayed here with us.
Perplexed and puzzled, the world spins and moves on when infact I am left forlorn of a friend that was and now never will be.
I know what I say does not connect with everyone and its just a buncha rambling garbage. Anyway, down it goes burried into the forgotten soon, as his memory will stay strong in those that knew him and faint in those that barely did... See you on the other side buddy

that is just so sad...
as i was reading ur 'story'.. i was hoping it wasnt about someone dying..
it is a very complex world we live in.. death to me doesnt matter very much either.. but its when someone who i didnt know.. who i could have kwown.. leaves without a proper explanation, i get confused and upset..
i spent less than 4 weeks in pak, in which three close family members passed away... one close call.. and several other incidents.. out of which one confused me the most... a young relation, 21 yrs old... sitting on the computer.. sudden heart attack and passed away... why??? what was the reason? the only son of the family... its just puzzling..
im really sorry to hear bout the death of ur friend... was it natural death... or?

As Xara said, although it is difficult for us to comprehend, everything happens for a reason and your friend is in a much better place now.

Sorry about your loss, Coco. I can understand that it's especially difficult because it came so unexpectedly to a person you genuinely liked & respected.
I'd like to share with you a verse that comforts me when i am in bereavement..
By me you will be praised in thought
Always, and with each step I take
I'll carry your memory engraved in my heart's core
As much as it is within my power, forever honor you.

Very nicely written tribute to all those that we have lost too soon in our lives.
I pray that Allah will give you peace and help you to deal with this news.
Rest assured that your friend, being the kind and innocent person you describe, is in a much, much better place. Pray that Allah will treat him more generously than anyone on this earth ever could.

That is so sad coh coh. I am sorry. May Allah swt grant him a place in Jannah and give patience to those that love and miss him.
I have never been able to come to terms with the concept of death. I am sure I'm not the only one. Mostly I don't understand it and even more I guess, I just refuse to accept it. It used to depress me and now it makes me mad. But what can you do, it's how it is meant to be; we shall all return to Him one day.
Reminds me of something from a piece I like: it goes "zameen-zaadon ki qismat mai agar matti hi likhi thi?
to phir yeh hao-hoo kiya hay?"
