We all know that looks can be deceiving, and that it is wrong and unfair to judge a person just by the way they look, dress, carry themselves...etc..etc... but then there are many who believe first impression is the last impression...

Which category do you fall under? Are you typically judgemental of a person just on first glance, or do you take the time to get to know somebody before forming an opinion about them?

I know it's very hard not to do that, because it is human nature to be critical of others...

What is the general impression that people get of you when they first see you?

I try my best not to judge a book by its cover, but it can be reallyyy hard when someone just acts/dresses/speaks like a slob and a lowlife... I have a really hard time getting past that, and I usually make little or no effort at all to try to get to know him/her after that. I know it's mean, but I can't help it...
Looks aren't something I usually consider, because we can't help the way we look, but a person who makes no effort to even look somewhat decent (meaning dressed appropriately... not all fancy shmancy, but at least clean!... combed hair, etc...) just pisses me off!

What are people's first impressions of you? Are they usually right?
Most people who see me usually don't like me very much ... my best friend hated me at first cuz she said I gave off an aura of arrogance... but she just confused it with confidence... and others are usually intimidated or just end up not liking the way I present myself... I dunno why... But that just makes me think that I shouldn't form opinions about others, cuz it's not fair to them... and I hate it myself when people start making absurd assumptions about me without even talking to me....

Hmm its funny how confidence can usually be mistaken for arrogancy.. one of my friends, i had that impression abt em from seeing htem around at college, well dressed etc etc..but then they actually started talkin to me and i got to know em better

Generally, when people are being something they are not...my radars go off. I usually wait till their "cover" wears off. I can't stand people that are acting unnaturally fooh fooh.

Yeah I know, I try to be very down-to-earth and friendly but alottt of times you hear other girls whispering when u pass by "Dekho issay, patta nai kya samajh ti hai apnay aapko, kitni shokhiyaan hai, jaisay patta nai kahaan ki rani ho"... it just irks me and then I end up saying something back and it totally makes their comments about arrogance seem validated

I really think you should not pretend to be a snob because of girls who choose to be that way. If you are genuine kind person, you will be true to yourself. whereas, they are not.

Islam teaches us to be humble and sincere, if someone wants to be a snob...well its their issue. Atleast you;ll be at peace with yourself

i also don't stay angry for very very loongg.....and if someone apologises/realises then it's all forgotten. sometimes i can click wth some people very quickly and others i have to be a bit cautious i guess. Like i wouldn't go around being rude to lets useee errrrmmm ume zafeerah! but if im talkn to lifeless or erm inzi_rocks i'm more free

yeah, i tend to give ppl a chance more often cos in the past ppl have just made assumptions by my appearance, ive been classed as a 'snob', 'arrogant', 'quiet person' - when in reality i'm d total opposite - my friends actually laugh at d days when they were gettin to kno me and d kind of things they came out with - it shows that u jus need to take more time and think how would u feel if u were in the other person's shoes...

I think people both conciously and subconciously express themselves through their dress, hair etc. So I think in some ways, it's fair to judge by looks. I know just by looking at certain people that I won't share their political, religious, personal opinions. It doesn't mean I totally avoid speaking to them. But I do sum them up into a cliche. It's probably human nature or maybe a self-defense mechanism. I've also learned to trust my gut instincts concerning people. I used to help in my mil's jewelry store and sometimes my inner buzzer would ring when certain people walked in the store. They resulted in bad checks, thefts and attempted thefts.

I like pretty faces and people caring some kind of charm; natural or borrowed/ imitated. For the rest I don’t exist.

I always take the time to get to know someone before passing any sort of judgment on them. It takes some people a while to reveal their true self. Some of my best friends were people that I probably would have never dreamed being friends with upon first glance, but I realized that I had nothing to lose by getting to know them.

I've also come across people that might look quite "normal", but once I found out who they really are, I ran the other way very quickly!

I don't want people to pre-judge me, so I try my best to extend the same courtesy to them.

Irrespective of looks i can get to know people, even if i think they are a complete dik (initially of course )....if my initial thoughts are substantiated, then it turns me off the person and that where i draw the line..........but if im proved wrong, it can always progress

These days tho..i dun have time to pass judgements......i just keep those i know close to me and dont try to get mingled in with new peeps
