well it's prolly not the best thing in the world. from a human point of view it'd be nice if the ratio could be a balanced one or more friends of your own gender, but from a muslim point of view, i have nothing but a smile to give you. though i think with girls, what i find is some cannot seem to hold a convo or make friends unless they are talking about someone in a negative way and guys don't tend to do that (as much).

Men are drama free most of the time and if they are single...they are able to devote a lot of time and attention to their friends that happen to be girls.
Girls usually dont indulge their female friends and stroke their egos as much as men will.
Most of the girls Ive seen that have a lot of male friends are self-centered and need constant attention which men are more then happy to give. Girls usually dont put up with that because they're so involved in their own lives...they dont have time for it.

PSquared, I'm going to have to agree one hundred percent with both of your posts - the one exception to this rule would be a genuine tomboy afro-sheen mentioned earlier.

I will in no way tolerate ANY guy friend for my wife. That's just unacceptable. Period.

Girls hallucinate. There is nothing like a girl guy 'friends' thingy but there is always 'friends plus' thing.

As per wikipedia :
Friendship is co-operative and supportive behavior between two or more people. In this sense, the term connotes a relationship which involves mutual knowledge, esteem, and affection and respect along with a degree of rendering service to friends in times of need or crisis. Friends will welcome each other's company and exhibit loyalty towards each other, often to the point of altruism. Their tastes will usually be similar and may converge, and they will share enjoyable activities. They will also engage in mutually helping behavior, such as exchange of advice and the sharing of hardship. A friend is someone who may often demonstrate reciprocating and reflective behaviors. Yet for many, friendship is nothing more than the trust that someone or something will not harm them.
I dun see any restriction of gender/age/race etc. in this definition, then y is their a problem if a person has more gal/guy friends, infact more then that y r ppl here even discussing this issue
I said na

Living in the west, I have an equal amount of friends, but obviously a girl friend is a girl friend, you can talk, laugh, share anything with her but when it comes to a guy friend, you can't be that open up to him no matter how nice of a person he is.. so I prefer my gals pals over my male friends

Less drama. less backbiting.. less jealousy, less hassad.
