Man, I am losing count of how many times I hear people (especial the females) utter this like it's an honourable trophy they can boast about.
Men and women both take pride in having more guy friends than girls.
Question is why?
Especially women - why do we make it seem like it's cool or something, are women not good enough for our friendship?
Young soul's search has been paused.

i've never really heard guys say that but i've heard a few females say it. their reason is that with guys there's less drama. i never got into it, never tried understanding it.

a guy who has alot of female friends ("platonic" or not) = seen as gay, or screwing those females.
a girl who has alot of female friends = is typical....and as we all know, from another thread not too long ago, want to set themselves apart from other girls so they think having alot of guy friends makes her unique in some way.
weird i know

guys seriously are just easier to deal with. no pms biatch attacks, no backbiting, drama, fights over men etc etc. What you see is what you get.
I have a vast social circle and equal number of male and female friends but sometimes the number of men tip the number of women.... they're just easier to get along with and be real with.... women could be so blegh and judgemental at times... you really have to look hard to find birds of a feather...

Yeah, the only guys I know that have more female friends are gay. So, straight men definitely don't take pride in saying I have more female friends, that's for sure.
Some girls just think if they have more guy friends, it automatically makes them funnier, more appealing, etc. Whereas the truth is, getting along with men (in general) is much, much easier than getting along with females. If you can make females approve of you and still be cool, then you're something.

I always had more gals as friends and less boys. But now since friends are getting married so i am hardly left with any

there is nothing wrong with having more girl friends than guy friends but from what I believe is that a guy can never be himself around girls. there is no "mate-ship" relationship between a guy/ girl which can be seen between a guy/guy.

Haha the gay ones arent. No in all seriousness, I do have really awesome male friends, many whom I've been friends with for hmm about 5-10 years with and who havent tried anything or said anything shady. And no, they're not gay, they just have respect for me and the boundaries I have set forth in my relationship with them. It all depends on how you handle yourself and carry yourself around them... act flirty, show interest, do anything that a male friend wouldn't do with the guy, and well you're just setting yourself up for trouble.
To each their own but I think it all goes back to whether you believe in whether there is such a thing as friendship between a boy and a girl.
