egarding what niqabi women do in Pakistan for ID pictures, well I don't know about nowadys, but still am sure the old rule still applies; you can get your thumb print done, and I haveeven seen woen's pictures wheile still wearing the niqab on their IDcards. I guess they probbaly have to get their pics taken if applying for a passport, but then all women living in Pakistan don't apply for a passport.

Yes I am a hijabi, and yes I do think niqab is unnecessary, but who ever wants to wear it, go for it! Google "jilbab"!

Hijab is just covering your head, and thats it, like I wear normal american clothes under. A jilbab is a long coat covering your entire body, it does not include the hijab.

I know I could be a bit too paranoid, but this is life and muslims do have it a bit tough in the West. I would not mind going to the UK because that is not like USA. Plus I do not wear a Nikaab. Abhi takk Allah ne taufeeq nahi di, however I think what I already do is enough.

Well no one I know has been prevented from praying in a mosque, and I know ladies who wear abaya and have never really been made fun of. Now when you go to the extreme of a niqaab, yes people will stare you down cuz you stick out like a sore thumb. They look, but havent heard of anyone really making any comments in general. If I saw a gori say with hot pink hooker boots or something way out there, I would catch myself staring too. People have a tendency to be curious about what they have not seen.
How is UK different than the US? Have you lived in both?

Gaia :
thanks .... Okay its good to know the difference btw two.
Am a big fan of Hijab and Jilbab looks nice too. However covering ur face was little extreme to me and i thought i was being evil, thinkin that way.
Now hearing almost the same from a hijabi makes me feel better

wow I just realized your a larka
But yes women should cover themselves fully with both a hijab and a jilbab, but I do not see the point of a niqab. I still have not gotten to the point of a jilbab, since I have a hard time ditching all my pretty pretty clothes . But inshAllah one day I will.

one of my hubby's cousin wore nikaab for a while and even her own children were like "why you gotta dress like a ninga"
I agree with Afro - people are just curious.
Remember Michael Jackson and his nikkab like covering - everyone was wondering what he was trying to cocnceal.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
