I talk to myself sometimes. It can help you organize your thoughts and think things through.
Also, it can help prepare you in advance for a situation where you have to confront someone or where you have to speak in front of an audience.
For example, let's say that you're taking speech class or that you have to give a project presentation for a class. Talking to yourself is a way of rehearsing for that presentation.
Or let's say that you have an issue to discuss with a friend, family member, coworker, boss, teacher, etc.................talking to yourself can be a way of practicing what you want to say and how you want to say it.

Talking to yourself is not unusual. Of course this also depends on the content of your self-dialog. If what you're saying is highly delusional or dangerous......then i would say it's a cause for concern and could be brought to the attention of a shrink.
HOWEVER.............we start talking out loud to ourselves from a young age. If you observe little kids such as preschoolers (both boys and girls)..........you will find them talking out loud on behalf of their barbie dolls or toy dinosaurs or action figurines as a form of dramatic play.

I also talk and laugh when by myself sometimes. Then sometimes my mom will ask me why I am laughing.

oh.....umm in that case maybe he is just so used to talking to himself that he cant give up now you dont need to be much worried about that person cause as you can see alot many of us here are the people who talk to themselves

for my family its pretty normal now
*i bursting into unstoppable laughters all of a sudden in a quiet gathering* :P
bt with time i managed to make them silent giggles
and then i pretend that something funny just happened :P so that *Others* wont think i am mad

Ok i like NEVER talk to myself.... I dont think its really healthy for people to be having conversations with themselves... lol thats a bit much... but I will admit that sometimes be it in the confines of my room or even in public I have fits of uproarious laughter when remembering something funny.... I wish I could control it cuz I look like an absolute nutjob... but ahh well..
it's the heart afraid of dying, that never learns to dance; It's the dream afraid of waking, that never takes the chance; It's the one who won't be taken, who cannot seem to give; And the soul afraid of dying, that never learns to live.

I talk to myself out loud (ONLY when Im alone!) when I'm nervous or need to think things through properly (which are otherwise muddled up in my head). And I always rehearse what I need to say if I have to discuss an issue with someone.. it helps!

ppl have dialogues with themselves all the time and thats what the thought process is. if u talk loud enuf that others can hear u then its something to worry about and seek a psychiatrist. seeing a mental health professional is neither a taboo nor carries any stigma especially in the west so i wud not worry.
