i know someone who is always talking to themselves and it sounds like they are speaking on the phone and having proper conversations!
i am always catching them and then ask them who they were talking to. they then reply that they were not talking to anyone and this really confuses me because i know i heard them!
this person sits alone in the sitting room sometimes having proper conversations and when i see them driving alone in their car i see them talking as if they are talking into a handfree phone!!
does anywhere here talk to themselves? why do some people do it? what does it mean?

Do u think this person may have psychological problems? You should get them to see someone about it.
One must make a mark in this world, if I am remembered for anything, let it be cheese and crackers...

i do talk to my self sometimes!!! and imagine somebody replying me and then i talk again lolx
i dont find it abnormal but yea i am never too loud that other people might listen to it and i do that in bathroom or when i am really alone!!!
i do this because sometimes i really feel like talking to somebody and want replies like the way i would like them or if i want to imagine something happening to me i talk it over with my self and imagine that its actually hapening lolx so i guess that person is just like me
but i do this cause i am quite talkative and nobody in my place has enough nerves to bear with my chatter patter all the time lol

pretty much this. nothing to do with loneliness for me.
i'd just rather talk to myself than most people.
i find it very helpful when i'm thinking things through, the mind has a tendency to run off in different directions. so by talking you're forcing it to concentrate on one point and can formulate a coherent argument or plan.

v intresting!
thats sad though that the person i know must then be feeling so lonely that they are always talking to themselves. but from what i have seen that person has so many friends and close cousins but still does this.

I talk to myself. like: "shall I cross the road" "what am I doing?"
I open the debate to myself and let the brain do the processing.
OMG!!!

I talk to myself. Its a good way of reflecting somehow. The funny part is I dont even have a need to chatter patter all the time. I'm not a big talker at all

I'm rather disturbed by all of u coming out of the woodwork to say that u talk to your self. Perhaps it IS normal then...???
I THINK to myself, have discussions in my head when analysing situations, but I ain't never spoken discussion out loud, anyhow, that's neither here nor there.
What I would like to say is that my neighbour's uncle started talking to himself and then he became mentally ill. Another friend's mum started talking to herself after a traumatic life event and became mentally ill for sometime. Was cured by electric shock treatment in Pakistan, I don't think they do that here.
