Ummm: What's a khula?
The Pakistani system is very hard: you are supposed to make your husband the center of your universe, and then he cheats on you and it's over. Naturally she's going to be going through a hard time.
The most important thing is to begin a new life, a new project, and to keep telling herself that she didn't deserve that kind of treatment, and that she won't put up with it now or in the future.
Hopefully.

You never know. If the door is open, someone might come inside, then it will be up to her to decide.

no...its 4 months and 10 days. its just to amke sure that she isn't pregnant with her ex husband in order to establish the paternity of the unborn child [if she is pregnant]
i ain't sure but if u can, thru the medical tests, can be sure that she ain't pregnant then i think iddat period is unnecessary especially if the woman has to earn a living and she can't sit home.

I read somewhere it is 3 months? I am getting confused now. No she is definitely NOT pregnant. She did have sex with him once but that was ages ago. If she was pregnant she would have had a kid by now. Well she does not need to make a living as such so is Iddat still necessary?

Iddat is established from The Holy Quran and the Hadith of Rasoolullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). We cite the relevant verses in this regard: In Surah Baqarah Almighty Allah states:"And those women who are divorced, should keep themselves in waiting for three periods."This verse establishes the iddat for a woman who is divorced, such iddat being a period of three haidh according to the hanafi mazh-hab. In another verse in Surah Baqarah, Allah Ta'ala says:"And those among you who expire and leave behind wives, they (the wives) shall keep themselves in waiting for four months and ten days."
