Title of a famous book...
But what are your views on verbally abusive relationships...not just between spouses but other family members as well? Do you think women are more snappy with their tongues or men?

Nature vs Nurture
we all have tongues, but how we use them...to say and spread good, or evil, its up to the individual person and their tarbiyat.
on a second note, men can be snappy too..I would hate to have Jerry Seinfeld as a spouse in real life..a lot of the snappy sort of men are snappy for different reasons than women..it could be a defense mechanism..or a "smarty-pants" act..whatever it may be...whatever gender....the tongue has a mind of its own.
Thats what she said.

If speaking of marriages, I think most women can tolerate alot more than their husbands and can definitely hold back their tongue. They have to do it to maintain the peace in their marriage especially if there are kids around. I have definitely seen more husbands being snappy and saying things without thinking while the wives stay quiet. In desi culture, it's mostly because they have too much respect for their husbands to say anything back.
Choose your battles wisely.

nothing sharper than a woman's tongue...sorry for the sexist remark here but I am yet to be proven wrong - inside and outside of family.
A pissed off woman can spill scorpions, swords, arrows...

Myers briggs type personality profiles would argue that such people ( / women) can't help it. It's in their personality to talk - think - talk, i.e. speak before thinking. When one is angry, man or woman, s/he lose control and act according to his/her genes.

I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

I hate to admit it but i think its true
The amount of things I think about, that I never speak (well not to that person), that go through my head...... I would kill myself if i heard anyone say them to me.
But thn again i know some guys like that to...so maybe its a personality trait rather than a gendered thing.

I think its a personality trait that has nothing to do with gender. The things my husband says to people who make him mad or annoy him, on their face (tauba)........ I can never say such things
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

Correct me if I am wrong but is there a hadith that suggests there will be more women in jahannum because of their tongue issues?

"zuban hee insan ko jannat main aur zuban he insan ko dauzakh main lai jayee gee...it is the best and worst part of human body"
