Fanta, I visited London like a hippie in two days. I would leave the house of the people I was staying with first thing in the morning, get a whole day underground ticket for all the zones and start ticking things off the free tourist map I got from someone. I would come home at about midnight.

But then I like to walk and don't mind getting lost. Thats where the all zone, all day pass would come in handy. I found London to be very tourist friendly and accessible.

Is this work related trip to pleasure?

I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Cheerful

first thing you need to know is that the tourist areas, most of them are in the west of London. To get around you will just need a underground ticket for a week or a bus ticket. Alternatively you can call up a mini cab service there far cheaper than the black cabs. If you need me to recommend any mini cab services I will do.

The must do for a tourist is the London bus tour, you will need to book this in advance to avoid disappointment http://www.theoriginaltour.com/

I recommend places like Madame Tussaud's and The London Eye. You will also need to book these places because for anyone that goes there without a reservation the lines are about 3 hours long unless you go in the morning around 8am or late in the evening around 6.

If you are in London for 6 days you must see a west end shows , again these MUST be booked in advance. These are the must see's, the rest is pretty much look from the outside stuff which you will cover on the London bus tour like houses of parliament, River Thames (although you can ride a boat through it)

If the weather is good you can go to Hyde Park , one of UK's biggest parks. There are loads of activities to do here.

If you get a Hotel in the Central/West of London it will be very expensive but it depends on your budget. If you are more interested in the tourist part I recommend you book the Holiday Inn or Travelodge Hotel.
