This is a question for all the camera gurus out there.
I'll be in the US for an official trip next week. And since electronics are much, much cheaper there I am thinking of getting a new camera for myself while I am there. I'm not restricting myself to any brands, models, etc. but I have always had Canon cameras and have been quite happy with them.
What I am really looking for is:
- Camera should be compact and light
- It should have good optical zoom (I never use digital zoom, because that just distorts the pictures)
- Decent video quality would be nice, but is not a must-have
- I'm NOT a "Megapixel"-freak. That's mostly a marketing gimmick anyway. I just want a camera that gives me good results. Megapixels don't really matter that much.
- Ideally the camera should not cost more than US$ 500.--
Please send me your suggestions and also let me know about good places to buy cameras from in San Francisco (because that's where I'll be next week).

Umer bhai I can tell you, get either a camera from Sony, Canon or Nikon.

Do you want an SLR or not?
I always shoot with Canon and although I am biased, I recommend them.
