While this is good news for the combat capability of the Frontier Corps, it is completely disgraceful that the Pakistan government and army neglect the FC so much so that another country feels the need to have to train it.
The Associated Press: Times: US advisers training Pakistani troops
WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. military advisers, mostly Army Special Forces soldiers, are training Pakistani troops in their fight against al-Qaida and the Taliban, The New York Times reported Sunday.
The secret U.S. task force provides the Pakistanis with intelligence and advises them on combat tactics, but does not participate in combat itself, the Times reported, citing anonymous U.S. military officials.
Pakistani army officers said last year that the Pentagon had sent 32 Americans to train senior personnel of the paramilitary Frontier Corps in the northwestern part of the country, adjacent to Afghanistan.
On its Web site Sunday, the Times reported that the effort was larger and more ambitious than previously acknowledged, involving more than 70 U.S. advisers, including combat medics, communications experts and other specialists.
A commando unit within the Frontier Corps has used information from the Central Intelligence Agency and other sources to kill or capture as many as 60 militants in recent months, the newspaper said.
Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, the chief of Pakistan's army, is visiting Washington this week as the White House and the Pentagon review U.S. strategy in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

True, Pakistan has spent the majority of it's time and resources to train in fighting with India which is surely shortsighted. The U.S. has learned valuable lessons in Iraq and Afghanistan which fits the fighting style necessary for the NWFP and the lessons will benefit the Pakistan army greatly.

I think Pakistan needs to have two kinds of forces
The Army to fight conventional wars with India
and a rugged Frontier Corps to engage the taliban fighters

Frontier corps was never designed to fight war
the 70 secret task force personnel are not there just for training, don't believe all that's reported

Whatever the FC was designed for, they have to fight now or be slaughtered like the policemen in Lahore. There is no choice in the matter.
Let's hope they can come and train our police as well.

well kehkashan! if americans came to train me then its my honour to train them with bullets and my blood in order to save Pakistan and this nation. someone definitly has to teach them a lesson and teach them manners how to live in the world and if u dont know to live with manners then what can happen sir!
abhi is qaum aur mulk k muhafiz maray nahe. zinda hn. ye na samajhna k kamzor logon ko dabanay walay khud bhi buch saktay hn aur na hi un behen bhaion ka khoon itna sasta ha k musalmaanon ka khoon kaafiron ko muaf kr diya jaey.
we will Insha Allah teach them a lesson.
jub in dehshatgard mulk k badmash dehshatgardon ki fauj ki cheekhein niklein gi na tb hi inhen un mazloom muslims k kurb aur cheekhon aur siskion ka ehsas hoga sir!

American manners are excellent when you compare to taiban murderers and their manners. What kind of insane person do you need to be to blow up a mosque? Only lesson you are teaching anyone is that killing muslims is ok in the name of jihad.

When targeted correctly they have a much better chance of doing so then a suicide bomber who is looking to kill innocent people.

You are right ...... but what is ironic is that the unlike cluster bombs suicide bombers "know" the difference .... inspite of that they blow up mosques !!!!!!!

Clearly they have blinded themselves to differentiate.
