No, Chandni Chowk is in Old Delhi.
Here, we have some of the best places to shop. South Extension Market, Connought Place, Janpath, Karol Bagh... oh my god. I could live there!!! These places are buzzing with tourists who get ripped off paying $500 for a chappal that costs $50! Honestly. Most Indian designer stores such as Satya Paul, Ritu Beri and the like are in South Ex. You also get the best bhelpuri chaat here. Then you have the famous Tanishq and Bhimji Zaveri and Mehrason's jewelers...sophisticated multi storeyed marbled buildings where a small pair of earrings costs you an arm and a leg.
Happiness often sneaks in through a door you didn't know you left open...

Don't know how long ago you all visited Delhi, but a discussion of Delhi's shopping venues would be incomplete without mentioning Palika Bazaar - the underground shopping market.

i just didn't have a good time in delhi when i visited 3 yrs ago. south delhi is nice, but otherwise the city is soo polluted. i heard that things are better now, with the clean up due to commonwealth games.
i wish i knew where to shop when i was there. i just found everything ridiculously pricey, and the shopkeepers so chaalaak, felt like i was being ripped off. anyways, i loved shopping in lucknow, jaipur and amritsar, and i think i got great deals, considering that the shopping in delhi is sourced from these places mostly.
next time i go to delhi, i'll refer to this thread. i'll make a bee line for palika bazar for sure!

Palika bazar is an underground, air conditioned market in Connought Place. It's got all these small shops and some big ones as well, but cheaper prices than what goes on above ground level!!!
Namkeen, Delhi is a rip off for sure. Everything is pricey no doubt.

I liked shopping in ansal plaza too nice place to shop..in particular liked the shop called meena bazaar...no doubt was expensive(could buy just one dress)but the choice of clothes was real good...and of course south ex is good but again really expensive...for accessories loved the gk market..and most wierd market was the khan market...i could not understand what the hype is all about..

True. Infact, that advice holds true for travelers to any "3rd world" country eg. Latin America, SE Asia etc.
