hello new yorkers
i understand that you consider your city to be quite lovable what with the "I love new york" everyone is trying to sell on everything. so where should i go. im very short on time and have meetings and stuff to go to. im staying on broadway and 32nd, and iv'e seen the empire state and macy's (i have parents with me).
what are must see things that i can see in a reasonable short time? remember the stuff should be PG because i will be having parental guidance with me.
also, is my area safe after dark?
i just have tonight and a little bit of tomorrow, can i see anything useful? so far i have a completely unutilized camera.
thanku

Take the A train to Nostrand Avenue in Brooklyn. there is an amazing pocket of lively people who, strangely, will be fascinated with your stories about MAcy's and statue of Liberty, since they have never seen it themselves. Just one caveat, leave you wallet at home.

And while sightseeing in Bedford Stuyvesant and Nostrand Avenue, if you get stabbed or become seriously injured, then head over to the nearest hospital, brookdale by name. You, however, must be fluent in african languages, cuz thats what the doctors speak, since most of them hail from there.
True story: once a NYPD police officer was shot pretty bad in the area. When paramedics arrived from the hospital of "brookdale", the officer broke down crying in despair, " please dont take me to that hospital, i dont wanna die." As a police officer he had had firsthand experience of bringing in gunshot victims and watching how "professionally"they were treated.

i'll complain to ehsan bhai, he likes me.
no seriously, i was excited to come here, but so far what i've seen is pretty ordinary. i think i like california better.
what i do like is the number of halal restaurants. and they're open 24 hours!! 24 hours! 4 halal restaurants within 1 block, and they're open 24 hours!!
amazing.

Its a resturant /bar/some 1/2 hr show related to jeckylland hyde. They have a nice setup (spooky) like all pictures stare at you, the bar has a skeleton in it. It is famous for 1 yard beer and 1/2 yard beer. Basically it is fun for all ages.

I'd go downtown to the staten island ferrty/shuttle...you'll see the statue of liberyand get a beautiful evening view of the city....
Walk around st. mark's place or down south of washington sq around mcdougal street..some amazing food there.
Definitly try "the kati roll company " there...
To be honest do go to harlem but during the day time, you can go to 116 on 2/3 line and see Malcom shabaz mosque, go up to 125th and see the apollo...but the apollo won't be that exciting
chinatown on canal st. is always fun for tourist and you/your mom will love buying the knock off designer purses there...try "vegeterianhouse.com" for amazing vegeterian dimsum...

New Yawkers are notoriously rude. Just making you feel at home.
Do NOT rent a car, you are road kill to New York drivers. Cab it everywhere.

goodstuff og. i havent encountered any rudeness though as yet, i ask for directions everywhere and everyone seems genial. one shopkeeper gave me his life story when i asked him a question.
so im thinking of going to one of the places amelie suggests. the staten island thing sounds good, but i wont get out of a meeting till about 830. good time to go out?
i live in LA where getting a cab is very difficult, that doesnt seem to be an issue here.
thanks everyone
