Lol, Jackson Heights and Coney Island for shopping?
He was right the first time tho, just walk down 5th Avenue and you'd see tons of places. Plus there's Manhattan Mall on 34th and 5th. If you are driving then go to the Tangiers Outlets, its all the way down LIE, where it ends, like exit 75 or something.

It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man!

HELP!

OMG OMG OMG I LOVE shopping

Lets c, yo can always go to Macy's and H&M and of course Gap/Express (if u don have em in UK) for guys stuff.. i dunno ur price range so i can't tell u wats cheap and expensive (coz it might not be that way for you).. For all that other stuff, heck just stick to Macy's on 34th street/herald square, EVERYTHING is there, watches, shoes, etc.. Theres lots of shops on 5th avenue and Madison avenue, all the super fancy expensive designer places..

Transportation i think ure better off using the subway.. only coz its cheaper.. Where are you going to be staying so i can giv u better directions for the subway.

And for halal eating places, the gyro guy on 53rd n 6th is pretty famous.. hes always there around maghrib time.. if u can go during the weekdays, the lines might not be so long.. You can always go to Jackson Heights for great desi food, u got kabab king there (they've the best nans ) and (my favoritE) desi chinese king.. great desi-chinese mix food for a gud price.. Then going downtown, on 28th n lexington in Manhattan, are all the indian restaurants.. Curry in a Hurri, Roti boti or somethin like taht, Bamiyaan (Afghani), Garden house (real chinese food-halal), and Chinese Mirch (another chinese-desi mix, though a tad more expensive than desi chinese king)..

hey SARA...Come here
really appreciate that! thats the kinda posting i was looking for! lot's of detail!... (i knew it'd be a girl who'd help me out with this one!) we got all the H&Ms/Gap etc. but what i'm after is like some decent timberlands! cos i gots to buy 3 pairs! (for me and my bros)...so anywhere where they will be decently priced...budget wise i'm bringing about $600 just for shopping, but i will have my visa card with me incase i like something special...

We r staying at the Waldorf which is on Park Avenue...i dont gotta clue where that is in relation to other places!...so subway will be cool to travel right?...but i'm deffo gonna link up with a desi cab driver...lol...should be cool....i'v taken note of all these places you mentioned...honestly a big thank you! nice one!

HEY SARA... check this message out:

".....Assuming you are flying into New York JFK, please do one thing for me. Get a cab or the Subway only as far as Brooklyn, then walk across Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan - a sensational way to get your first sight of this amazing island. Once you're there, it's well worth ticking off some of the sights like the Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty, but the most exciting activity is simply walking through this city. You could start at Battery Park at the south end of Manhattan, and walk north along Broadway for miles, cutting a cross-section through New York and meeting loads of interesting people. Have a great time, but please do the bridge thing...."

I'd sent an e-mail to some UK TV-Travel guru, and thats the reply he gave....what do u think to his advice????
