I am delighted you mentioned that. Not many people are fond of pure textbook style wrestling. 'Last of the genuines' is aptly put.

Didn't he already, at Wrestlemania? Backlash has always conducted rematches from its predecessor. Cena would also have faced Michaels had it not been for a fatal four-way.

You see Cena vs HBK on Raw?

Best match on Raw for some time now.

It was good. It was awesome. Oh my Lord, it was so good! 56 minutes in total. Unvelievable. Even though I had read the spoiler report earlier in the evening, it didn't specify the winner of the match, and by the time Shawn had delivered sweet chin music and landed on top of his opponent faster than Cena had the ability to crash and burn, it was the decisive moment. Months had gone by, months, and we were stuck with the likes of Umaga (best wrestler as termed by 'Firefighters' - RAW fans) and Lashley as our main events, and with McMahons in the picture, it was hopeless to expect proper wrestling matches from them. And with DX at the helm, the wrestling part was altogether taken out of the equation. McMahons have been criticized heavily in the past about the number of times the family had eaten up and stole valuable television time while other hard-working workers are pushed back on the backburner due to the nonsense that they have to put up with a number of their bosses (Triple H, Undertaker, to name a few). This was a long, long time coming. Very satisfying, absolutely content after watching the match. The spoiler report had earlier noted that it didn't go well with the live crowd and a match dragged that long, it was a given. But it came off so well. A wrestling clinic, rated 5 stars.

On a lighter note, Rey Mysterio is said to be coming back in the next few weeks and the current plans for him is to be pitted in the main event of Summerslam against this Vince McMahon. Terrible booking, this.

I've kinda lost interest in WWE.. if I like watch a match once in a month, and it has some good wrestling - good hi-flying moves, vicious impact moves etc. (LADDERS!) - then yea I will definitely enjoy it, but not a fan ever since the Eugene-HHH storyline folded... plus nowadays I've noticed that the 'female content' has risen pretty much than it was in '04 or '05. And my satellite doesn't offer weekly shows any more anyway. I liked the Ladder match at Mania though; crazy off-the-ladder Book End, RKO and some moves by the Hardy Boyz and Mr. Kennedy as well. Kickass stuff.

Eugene and Triple H angle, what a desperate attempt to raise the TV ratings while keeping the son-in-law in the main event for all those weeks. The night where Eugene rolled Triple H for a three-count, the place went berserk, but look where he is now. Ever since that angle unfolded, you are right, there is no more Eugene (or Triple H) hogging the main-event spots. If it hadn't been for a quad, the original Wrestlemania plan was him to square off against John Cena in a 1-on-1 match. Triple H is a mighty good worker and has accomplished a whole lot in his professional career but since his return, he has been featured in main events more than any other. There is a whole locker-room behind those curtains who never got a proper chance to show their talents in the ring, all because the boss had to grab all fifteen minutes of fame every possible week.

The female contests? Not touching this one. It is not worth it. Some of those panties have been auctioned off for more than $700, excluding a pillow from a pillow fight on RAW which had it's prices sky-high.

But yes, MITB was a good match to start the show with. Lots of high-flying moves. A swanton from the top of the ladder onto Edge, great stuff.

How did you like the rest of the show? Like any matches or special appearances you would like to further talk about?

Damn, I missed the last match (Cena vs. HBK for WWE title) because dad's friend came over for some important work. The rest of the card was pretty good I think. The Money-in-the-Bank match was probably the best, and Undertaker vs. Batista for World title was also very enjoyable. No comments on that match's outcome, but the moves during the match were thrilling - Undertaker got quite airborne and was a stark contrast to his usually sedate in-ring performances... Batista also did well as a punching bag and put in some good moves as well. The Battle of the Billionaires was basically just some cheap in-ring tactics, I know Lashley did good and Umaga was doing his part but that whole Austin thing blew it in my opinion; the best part was to see McMahon getting bald - Bischoff got some sweet revenge. I guess those are the highlights for me - had I seen the main event I would've posted it here as well.

I used to be a die-hard fan and never thought I would be getting away from it (which is apparent from my handle on these forums), but things have changed in the past year. My first love cricket has taken over (not that it wasn't dominant in the past anyway). I still watch it for Triple H, HBK, and Edge (Fellow Torontonian), but the rest just don't interest me too much anymore. In the young guys, Orton is the best out there, but he's a bit like Shoaib Akhtar and keeps getting involved with disciplinary problems.

I guess we all see the resemblance. How on earth can one do damage worth of $50,000 inside of a hotel room? It escapes me. It is no small amount, given Randy's status with the company.

Randy Orton, a very good in-ring worker, a terrible, horrible and terrible person backstage with his colleagues and even moreso with the fans waiting outside for an autograph or two in the parking lot for hours in bone-chilling temperatures.

Cricket has always been loved more than anything, and so has professional wrestling. :-)

I'm sure once he grows a bit older and matures enough, Orton will be a legend. He has lots of time at hand to do so.

Backlash tonight. Gonna watch it. Just had a look at the card, I'm gonna be looking out for the Fatal 4way and Last Man Standing match - both look hot. Hmm... personally I also think that PPVs have more "wrestling" value to them than "showbiz" when compared to their TV counterparts. Gee, didn't know Orton had gotten that underhanded; he was one of my fav wrestlers, and you've gotta admit that he's got a great in-ring presence.

Batista vs Undertaker was surprisingly close.

4 way wasn't too bad either, though I hated the result of the 3 on 1 handicap. I mean, who wants that snob to get the title?

true, overall the ppv was pretty good. batista freakin' speared 'taker off the stage and dove right in to the equipment area down below! beams fell, electric circuits blew up, and what not! since it was a tie, taker retained the title. loved the 4way as well, the finish was extremely tense - what a flukie for cena. handicap match was just like okay, but i hate when the mcmahons include themselves in a match - it becomes sooo... unfair. rest of the matches were okay to good. i think the match of the night has to be the 4way. the promo of the night was a hilarious encounter between cena and orton backstage - orton complimentarily calls cena "handsome, extremely talented...[blah blah]... both of us will get together (in the ring)," and cena takes it the wrong way , hilarious!

Dhobi_bhai, did you see the last Smackdown episode. Best episode in a while.

There was a tie between Undertaker and Batsita in the cage match. Thus, Undertaker retained his title but then guess who made a comeback...MARK HENRY!.

He started beating up Undertaker who was aready bleeding badly and beat him good. Then, the evil opportunist as they say came.

EDGE came in and cashed in his contract. They started the match with Undertaker unable to even sit up. He tried to pin Undertaker twice but somehow he kicked out both times.

As Undertaker got up after an age, Edge hit him with the Pirhana and he went down for good.

1,2,3 and Edge was the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Nice summary Cluzz, had a good time reading.

Yes, yes, indeed. I had glanced at the spoilers report from Tuesday tapings and was looking forward to Edge's title win. Even WWE spoiled everything after the tapings were over as they promoted Edge winning the title on their main homepage in order to draw ratings for the show. We'll see how the plan worked. I am very content at this move. The title is in the hands of a champion who can wrestle; truly wrestle and put on a show. Unlike Batista or Mark Henry, Edge has always been a prefered choice as a champion. People's interest rise automatically when they see a babyface chasing the heel for the title in a nice set program, as it has been that way for many years now. Edge has been booked in major programs throughout the summer, and it will be a good opportunity for him to get as much coverage as possible.

Where should we go on about Mark Henry? The guy is a liability to the company, and major one at that. I fail to reason why WWE even signed him in the first place. Absolutely no clue on wrestling, can't sell an injury, period, facial expressions are meaningless and puts his opponents in grave danger with his oversized weight. Freeloaders, him and Chris Masters.

Yes, yes, oh God yes. Edge vs. Shawn Michaels. We better have 10+ minutes going in. It is going to be a wrestling clinic. God yes!

Good that you have brought it up, his concussions is indeed a part of the storylines but not the pain that he is experiencing in his back and in his knee. The concussions were painted in such way to draw the viewer away from the actual injury areas, like they would normally do with anyone, similar case as the Undertaker. They are genuine, Michaels has been having these back pains since this time last year but went along with the creative team and involved himself in the reunion of DX and while Triple H has been out, HBK has been looked upon by the company as one of the top faces on the roster. This is the reason why he has not taken a leave, yet.

At least Triple H will be back by the time Summerslam rolls around. Orton is going to be fed to him. But that's for a separate time.

Draft night tonight. Preferences on who should be switched to, and on what brand?

Meh. A good read, nonetheless.

Omg, wwe.

My fourteen year old brother still watches it sometimes. When I look at him with amazement, he tells me, "yeah I know, but, oh anyway, u won't understand." I guess most of you guys here would also tell me that; that it's all so seemingly macho, the wrestling moves and the threats and challenges et al.

Ok Ill admit, I used to watch it in bits when I was in the tenth standard, those days when Triple H and stephanie mcmahon were married...Dgenerationx and all of that. And before that when I was just a little girl, during the good old days with Yokozuno, million dollar man (just some of the names I can remember), undertakers coffin stories etc... that too was because of my cousin brothers, and their fascination with all things wwf, and me wanting to be part of the whole fun.

Now, if and when I do happen to catch a glimpse of it playing out on TV, I can't help but wonder at the level of retardation these people seemed to have reached, all of them holding out posters with the only two words they seem to comprehend, "You Suck."

I am ungrateful to these teachers.
