Favre to resume his career with Jets ( BBC)
Perhaps a controversial return. I was watching his interview yesterday. He has reversed his decision to retire from Football.
Debate: Will Favre be a success in New York?

Brett Favre is said to have the people divided between supporting him because he was a Packer and not supporting because he switched sides. The news and the media are reportedly in Brett's favor as his career season starts shortly with NY Jets.

Brady-less-Pats and Favre'd-Jets collided yesterday. End result: same - Pats won.
Oh well, some things just don't change.
And hello!!! 9ers won... how sweet is that. I switched off after the first quarter when they were losing like 14-3. With the kind of mistakes they were making, who knew they'd beat Seattle in Seattle. Schedule is brutal for them. They'll probably go 1-7 before they win again.
Raiders won last night too. Then, it's Kansas we are talking about here.
Tonight should be a good game. I am looking forward to see how the 'Boys face McNabb.

^ Its not LA Raiders..... that sucky team belongs to Oakland. They came from LA, yes - and probably want to end back there as well. For now, their misery is part of Bay Area sports fans.

Yeah, personally I am a 9'er fan, not Raiders (their fans creep me out - hehe).
Against my own dire predictions, 49'ers are 2-1. With a brutal schedule coming up (Saints, Pats, Eagles, Giants), I won't be surprised if they are 2-5 before they face Seattle again. Though, considering NFC West is so pathetic, making play-offs is not too difficult.
Martz da man!!

^ He may not be talking about you! :-P
5Abi, its hard to follow a game, when you are not passionate about a team. And lately its a chore being passionate about any of the Bay Area teams in any major league, except Warriors and Sharks. Lets see how this football season shapes up. While Raiders may be the Dolphins of this year, 9ers may actually do something.

tsk, i guess you have heard already, baron davis of warriors is back in LA.
you really ought to watch 49ers from the late 80s to mid 90s era to be passionate about them (they defined the so-called West Coast offense, instrumental in winning many superbowls, currently adopted by most of the high powered offenses in NFL), watch ESPN-Classic channel if you get it, watch montana and young connect with rice, watch charles haley pass rush the QB and so on, go and watch a game at candlestick
as for the other team, raiders, they were originally based in oakland, came to LA, won a superbowl, and left LA for good in 1994, not sure if LA wants them again
other bay area sports, lets see, watch stanford vs. berkeley football game end of the season (The Big Game), yeah it really is a big rivalry
PS: the dolphins whooped patriots arse yesterday, dan marino can breathe sigh of relief

To the mod, thread starter:
Is this the de facto NFL thread? I guess it is. Can you now remove "bret favre" bit from the title. Favre moving to Jets isnt really a news worthy of consideration for me. As far as im concerned he is Bret "Old" Fart. He is way past his glory days, will never win another superbowl, and should have just called it a day and gone into the sunset in Green Bayy. No, he had to create all this drama about retiring/returning/trading etc , such an attention-whore he is. Anyway, same fate awaits him which Montana had after he left 49ers to go play at KC. Zaleel ho kar retire ho ga.

We'll talk about Warriors when the NBA thread is started. Losing Baron is a loss, but I still think Warriors are an exciting team around Monta.
Candlestick is probably the worse football stadium around. Seen quite a few 9'er games there (unfortunately during their rut years 06-07), and can't wait for 9'ers to build a new one either in Santa Clara or at Candlestick.
Dolphins were like 1-15 last year. Who'd be the worst this year?

raider coaches generally have a shelf life of 2-3 years
Their biggest mistake was letting john gruden go

So 9ers fire Nolan mid-season. This season again seems like a repeat nightmare of last year. Can Singletary do something here? He has Mike Martz as offensive coach. Defence is the real problem right now.
