I think its not. How ever its a breading ground for all other sports.
In its techniques it is said its 20 years ahead of other sports.
Techniques developed in body-building are eventually adapted by other sports.

Any thoughts?

Yes, it is.
It requires you to have extreme physical conditioning and requires you to beat others in a competition.

Body-building is not considered as a sport, and in my opinion, it will never be considered as, what one might call, a 'real' sport. But you are right that it is a breeding ground of many other sports requiring agility, strength and ability to know your body limits.

When you mentioned that it is said its 20 years ahead of other sports, could you delve into this a bit more? I think it is a pretty good logic of what you described, but let's explain it further, if you will.
