how did you adjust t the 40mm ball and the new scoring and serve sequencing?
I stopped playing competitively before the rule change and have not been playing competitively since then, but the new scoring is completely throwing me off since then,a nd I can not get the hang of the 40mm, i think a faster blade and grippier rubber may handle it.
any takers?

isnt it too late.
. Ball change n scoring system chagned long ago i believe 6 yrs back.
in my opinion it is good as it has reduced the speed n swing of the ball so as to increase the rallies.
u r rite with bigger ball players r using more faster blades and rubbers. As the ban on high speed glue now u can see longer rallies n players more close to table then was earlier
n the new scoring systme is real thrilling. now players can not take starting points casually as was used to be in earlier days that even a player down 10-0 can come back.
Now u can see many upsets.
one more thing is that it suits more to orthodox players. while u r understanidng the technique n the game is already finished

Moonstar, I have not played club level tt in a longer time and the friends I play with are still in the old 21 point 5 serve a pop thing.
I still was using my old stiga allround blade and juic spinspiel rubbers. They were not cutting it. I mean with yaar dost it was fine but I went to play in a club and it just was not giving me the type of play I liked. I was never into really fast blades and sheets. Back when I started markv by yasaka was too fast for my liking, and I used butterfly sriver and tackiness-drive. At Uni I got the tamca gergely blade which was among the first with titanium or cf I don't recall but while at 102 I believe it was among the heavier blades it had awesome speed, but too fast for my liking. Gave that blade to someone.
I am getting the stiga carbokev WRB now and have faster sheets on it, so I think that will help
with the 40mm ball.
The new serve sequence and game length is not to my liking because I was the strongest in my play in the last 3rd of the game. I know it's psychological plus in game 1 yeah u figure the dude out.
My new racquet gets here next Friday, looking forward to it.
What combo are you using now?

sorry not carbokev, getting carbonic wrb blade with juic shenron in 2.0 on forehand and joola spring thunder in 2.0 on the backhand. I would rate the combo at an off- to off, not an off+ category but that may be too fast.
Interesting to see the competition in the space now. Just a few years ago killerspin was nothing, joola and hunter were not major players, between yasaka, butterfly, stiga and maybe some juic, you had your big players, double happiness was another.
Interesting times

u adventured a lot with blades n rubber.
I started with Mark V on fore hand and friendship on back. friendship doesnot suited me so changed to sriver n then stick to it. for blades i started with butterfly firehand-FL ( off - ) wayback in 93- 94 carbon blades were not that famous or available for poor players like me. once i tried carbon again came back to firehand. never used glue. I used to have a good loop spin but lagging in fitness level to move quickly to adjust. so mostly was a medium defensive player.

My fav blade was a phalanx, when I played in tournaments in Pakistan thats what I had. the highest I went was in quarter finals for the national junior team selection, lost to Azhar who later became the captain, but I did take him to 3 games. I think I am older than you. This was in 1986. I played at CAA club and also National Coaching Center. had the opportunity to play in practice against farjad saif, arif khan and arif nakhuda, and actually the shakoor sisters, whom I beat one of them i believe was married to nakhuda.
i am not a big glue fan, hate anti sheets.
style is medium offense with strong backhand, the backhand loops throw ppl off
btw just saw you are in Riyadh, I used to live there as a kid before moving to pak. in the sharae washam and sharae vazir area.

I wish I could share some thing, All I have is pain lol
from losing to my friend all the time.
when we were little, we had table in our house, he use to come from across the street with only a racket.
He use to beat me and laugh. I twice hit table with the raket to make a dent in it.
Back then tables were made of "chipboard" That moron still laughs at me.

I am from khokhar club which had many anti players that time. . maybe u know asim durrani and zulfiqar ahmed. as my club had many anti players so i m quite used to play against them. that could be a reason i had problems against ppl having good back hand as i usd to have a slow return on my spin n my movement was accordingly slow.
a plus was my loop spin became very good. once i played a loop top spin which oppnent ( from arif khan's club ) tried to blok n it went long way back. arif khan came to me n applued on the shot.
I didnt reached to some high level. max reached to semi of khi open twice. that too when some senior players were not playing.
actually i never been giving much time to TT. Normaly come to club n play a few games n go back.
after start of job it becamce more difficut to practice . still i used to go fro khi tourneys n normally reachin QF's always . it is during 97-2002. after that it is the end.

moonstar I think we talked about khokhar club once. I played there once for a club competition and I think our captaina nd I were the only ppl who won. its in shah faisal 1 or 2 right?
when i was playing azhar shaikh and atta abbas were the big names in juniors. atta abbas was DJ college and azhar I believe was from adamjee. I never beat azhar a full set but did win a game here and there. Atta was a different story, he was still a better player than myself but I beat him a few times, we never clashed in a tournament though. Iwentt o PAF colleeg so did nto face these guys in collegiate sports it was only in cit opens past college and I played in a handful of tournaments before leaving Pakistan.

i never met with azhar sheikh but played with atta abbas 2 in give him good time. though lost. at that time he was a veteran ( apart from nadir sohail ) then there was asim aziz n some other from sharf abad n amroha club.
I heard name of azhar sheikh from asim durrani ( my senior ) maybe he knew abt u as well . can u tell ur real name ( if u want then pm me. ) I remember he used to talk for long time abt his old days joniur matches.

I will PM you, they may not recall because we did not play much in colelgiate matches, I was in federal board, we only clashed post college and in open tourneys.
anyways, my new racquet arrived today. here are the pix. its the weight balanced with the hollowed handle. if you look closely at the brand/name plaque its see thru to teh other side. I went from a straight handle back to a flared.
I had to switch the colours because they did not have shenron in red.
so for the first time in years I will hve black on the forehand.
I get to test it out thursday.

a bit confused. for junk rubber if u mean scrap rubber then best is to throw in dustbin.
if question is about anti spin rubber so i luv to paly against anti spin. i am very good aganst anti players...
u know anti rubber is on back hand.
1. I used to play slow topspins continuosly until they give a long enough return so make a kill .
2. Play slow spins n start from most backhand of opponent , gradually play to the middle of his body n then slightly on is fore hand. here he will be confusd to return with back hand or from fore hand.

I usually do quick backhand flicks at extreme angles to throw them off..cuz its a very tough angle flick on thefoehand, they have to use forehand which does not have antispin, and they are off balance enough and the return is usually ready for a smash, even better if they return it to my backhand and a backhand smash completely throws them off
