Osama bin Laden alive and living near Chitral in Pakistan
(16.06.2005)

A senior Taliban military commander has said that both Osama bin Laden and Taliban leader Mullah Omar are alive and well.

Mullah Akhtar Usmani was talking on Pakistan's private television station GEO and said of Mullah Omar "He is still our commander and we are still getting instructions from him"

Mullah Akhtar Usmani also said that Osama bin Laden was also alive "Yes, he is absolutely fine", but refused of course to reveal his location.

We have on a number of occasions said that Osama bin Laden is still alive and that some members of the U.S. government (and a number of Pakistan officials) know exactly where bin Laden is located. We have provided a map pointing out his approximate location (see image on the right).

Osama bin Laden has been living in reasonable comfort for quite some time now and despite the rumours, does not live in "caves" on the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan, but in modern accommodation near Chitral situated in this area.

This will perhaps better explain how US intelligence are able to announce "communications" between bin Laden and al-Zarqawi.

It is unlikely that bin Laden has much direct contact (face to face) with other "al-Qaeda" operatives, as the secrecy of his exact location is as much for his safety as it is for those that are protecting him.

It is no coincidence that this area around Chitral is not "open" to unauthorized search parties, as those protecting bin Laden would not want him falling into the wrong hands and revealing information that could easily bring down the current US government.

Osama bin Laden is certain to understand the danger he is in, not just from "bounty hunters" and the like, trying to obtain the huge reward on his head, but also from the security who are there to protect him. His "protectors" are almost certainly under instructions to kill him, rather than let him fall into the wrong hands.

Some may wonder why it would not be easier to kill him now, rather than take any chances. But his work is not over and he is still of importance in organizing actions (in the name of "al-Qaeda") that are of benefit to those who look after him.

Osama bin Laden may be the most protected man on the planet at the moment and although he is technically free, he is unable to move very far from his current location.

We may never see bin Laden appear again (at least not alive) and the secrets he holds will be taken to his grave. While he remains of some use, he will be relatively safe. But should this change, he will be shot and the Bush administration will use his loss to their advantage by displaying his body for all to see. Hopefully, if and when this happens, people will continue to ask why it took so long and why "outsiders" were never allowed to search this area in Chitral?
