For too long I've heard only the negatives about India from most Pakistani Guppies, but this common grief seems to be healing the wounds of Partition.

Thanks, and may Pakistan come out of this tradegy stronger & United.

In Pak, parition wounds are the least of our concerns. It happened in the previous generation and well that was a fact somewhere in the past.

Our grief with Bharat is much newer, primarily based in Kashmir. The attrocities of Bhharati nation comitted in Kashmir is the biggest wound in our hearts.

We'll see how Bharat behaves during and after this tragedy. Hopefully things will workout. I really want to share your optimism.

Malhot ji, IMO Pakistanis in general always show a strong support for enhancing ties with India, the problem arises only when India tries to play a role of a big brother... I have many good Indian friends, and I have alot of good things to say about India. However, usually the same cannot be said about the Indians, you always hear Indians complaining about Pakistan, and maligning Pakistan...
Remember when the Indian cricket team visited Pakistan along with Indian fans, the Pakistanis from all walks of life, went out of their way to be nice to Indians, many even supporting the Indian cricket team...

Zulfi is right, most Pakistanis incuding myself generally have positive things to say of Indians. The problem arrises like he said when India tries to impose itself on others and tries playing big brother.
As far as most Pakistanis are concerned, contrary to popular belief, have only one problem with India and that being Kashmir (some dot even care about that either).. Resolve the Kashmir issue in mutually acceptable way and there is absolutely no hurdle in the way of better Indo Pak relations.

India wants the LOC to become permanent.. I dont see this a being acceptable to anyone but India. Khair, I think there is a way out of all this that will be mutually beneficial for all sides involved, but it will take time... Till then, if we cant love each other, at least we can try to get along...

I would like to see Kashmiris vote and choose for themselves, and would like to see the voting monitored by neutral International observers, such as those from the EU. Why doesn't India allow internationals to monitor the voting?

He is right.....all Kashmiris, who were natives of Kashmir by 1940 and their children, whereever they are living today in the world, above age of 18 must be invited to vote in the refrendum.

Anjjan are you forgetting about the land gifted to China by Pakistan.
Will those people also be invited for the refrendum.

Yes...all of them and their children above age of 18.

Nehru was an idiot. He must have insisted for a refrendum once a decision was taken at UN.
Patel did not like the idea that more states might opt for refrendum.
Shekh Abdullah misled Nehru....as he was dreaming to become a King of Kashmir.

And a refrendum in favor of india could easily distablise the existance of Pakistan. Do not forget that Pakistan refused to take away its armed forces from POK as a prior condition to refrendum.

Pak Generals knew that Kashmiris disliked Pakistan......how Kashmiris treated Pak soldiers in 1948 and in 1965 is well know.

Even if still a refrendum is conducted for a choice between Pakistan and India provided all native Kashmiris by 1940, Muslims, sikhs, Hindus and Buddhists including their children above 18 ...whereever they are living in Kashmir, India, Pakistan or abroad must be given a chance to decide.....Pakistan will have no chance.

We are only paying for the combined mistake of Nehru and Patel.

I dont see its problem for Pakistan to allow this vote. if kashmiri are given 2 choices they will opt for Pakistan.
if three then I would assume they will go for 1 independant state, 2nd option Pakistan, and very few will vote for India. this will may start other voting like this in indian states.

thats the main cause india is not allowing this simple but risky (for india) solution for kashmir.

all kashmir under Pakistani, indian and chinese control should be allowed to take part.

Kashmiri may hate Pakistan a little but they dont love India more than Pakistan.

What were the reasons that Kashmiris made fool of Pak soldiers in 1948 and in 1965?

Well, if yo can find them and they can prove they are Kashmirir then why not? But regardless would India allow a vote that outside the Indian stance on Kashmir?

Far as I know, most Muslims of Kashmir would have opted for Pakistan had they been given the choice.. Nehru would never have allowed this, especially considering the fact that he himself was a Pandit...
Still, question remains, why are Indians so hated and why dont Kashmiris want to remain with India? I mean I know why they are dissillusioned over Pakistanm but why India? And all this despite your glum sense of moral superiority! Any answer to that question?
I can give you hint if you like...
