ISLAMABAD: Two suicide bombers blew themselves up outside the Pakistani military's main arms factory on Thursday, killing at least 16 persons while injured over 40.
According to Edhi sources at least 16 people were and 40 others injured in two blasts whereas a police official confirmed the killing of 11 people.
"Two men apparently blew themselves up outside the factory during a shift change.
"The blast took place as staff were leaving after finishing their day's duty and it was very crowded at that time.
Police and security forces have cordoned off the area while security has been put on high alert across Punjab.

At least 52 killed in Wah Cantt arms factory blasts
WAH: Fifty-two people were killed and scores others injured in two suicide bomb blasts outside Pakistan's main military arms factory in Wah Cantt. on Thursday.
According to hospital sources, the death toll in twin blasts mounted to 52.
The attackers blew themselves up almost simultaneously outside two gates of the sprawling factory complex in Wah Cantt. It is one of the country's most sensitive installations.

The Pakistani Ordnance Factories at Wah is a cluster of about 20 industrial units producing artillery, tank, and anti-aircraft ammunition for the Pakistan armed forces. It employs around 25,000 to 30,000 workers.
Police and security forces cordoned off the area while security has been put on high alert across the country.
Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has strongly condemned the blasts.

^ you cant really secure against suicide bombers though can you without reducing everything to an army bunker.
wherever that security is going to be relaxed, thats going to be a point of attack.
But theres at least 3 check posts where you have to go through before getting close to this place, if you want a car in. I doubt they ever relaxed the security here. Even before 2000 this place was really hard to get into.

having lived there for many years, I almost agree with you. You have to have a resident pass pasted on your windshield, else you are asked to provide more details, before you can get in.
I always believed there are still ways to get in, take a 'katcha rasta' instead of going through check posts.
Anyways this is very sad event indeed, the location seems familiar when I see these pics on bbc site.
