Thinking

Gallup Pakistan's polls results are in. Some are obvious, some are not.

Welcome to Gallup Pakistan !

63% Pakistanis rejoice over President Musharraf’s resignation, while only 15% regret it. 20% were ambivalent.

70% dispute Musharraf’s claim to have resigned with the motive of 'Pakistan First’. Instead, they say he resigned in personal interest—'Musharraf First' approach.

64% Pakistanis reject his claims of economic accomplishments and good government during his term.

70% Pakistanis say past nine years were bad or vary bad and only 18% saying they were good or very good.

55% Pakistanis expect that conditions in the country will now improve, 19% take a pessimistic view saying conditions will worsen; 19% expect no change.

65% support holding a proper trial while only 26% are in favor of the “forgive and forget” option. 72% say if they were giving verdict as judge they would give harsh or some punishment to Musharraf.

85% want Iftikhar Chaudry and other judges to be restored immediately, 6% oppose restoration, while 9% advise not to take up the issue right now.

Poll found that sentiments about Musharraf cut across Gender, Age and Incomes groups.

these stats are worth toilet paper.. plus public surveys are stupid simply because well its unfortunate that it seems to me their brain just started ticking from 2007... i think they were asleep because even a neutral observer can tell the pakistan progressed in past 6-7 years.. i also dough the creditability of this survey..

No matter. We, as a nation are in habit of creating turmoil and celebrating. Bothways. Cant behave mature and sensible ever.

Mushrraf & Shakut Aziz create an economic bubble that burst & now people are paying for it dictator's economic policies for over 8 years.

"70% Pakistanis say past nine years were bad or vary bad and only 18% saying they were good or very good"

70% Pakistani people think the past nine years have been bad? Compared to the BB and NS era's.....

People in our country have such short memories!

^ The 90s were much better, thanks to the inflation and terrorism we have seen. We might not have seen alot of numbers in the news back then, but generally people see the last decade being very harsh on their pockets, which is why they dont care about the numbers crafted by Shaukat Aziz.

The bitter reality is, a roti was Rs. 1-2 back then, now its Rs. 4-5!

its interesting to see how anti-Musharraf groups see economy at his time

one group sees it as going downhill
other sees it as a bubble

both groups contradict eachother, without realizing that.

in that case, why not apply the same logic on THIS thread.. shall we?

the point is that it all goes to the way the questionnaire is arranged. you can get two opposite results from same group of people if it is arranged cleverly. Zia's referendum rings any bells?

All these surveys showing support or defiance for MUshy are meaningless now.

Mushy will get away; judges will be restored, which will make NS happy, and Zardari will protect NRO by piggybacking it with Judges restoration resolution. Everyone is happy.. Pakistan PaindaBaad.

This is an independent survey, conducted by professionals whose reputation earns them the credibility to carry out such surveys. Please don't compare them to sham referendums done by Musharraf/Zia.

Not if you continue to think he was some sort of popular president.

It shows that people who are anti-Musharraf do think instead of being parrot "all is good"

No credible survey says such a thing, stop making things up. If you want, post it up and we'll discuss it.
