He is the one who spread a fabricated letter inciting armed forces to revolt against the state. If such letter would have got propagated by anyone in most countries, the person would have got hanged or would have been spending life in prison. In Pakistan we do things differently.

Oh please.
The only people worthy of hanging include but not limited to Altaf Hussain who openly made an Anti-Pakistan remark by saying the formation of Pakistan was a mistake. It is HIM who should be prosecuted in public for all to see, so no one ever makes such an anti-state remark in a "not so friendly" nation
He talks the talk, but can he walk the walk. Please do let us know when you know of his arrival in Pakistan, a country which he oh-so-overwhelmingly seems attached to.
C'mon Sa1eem, be honest for once. When you're putting political figures on the griller, why do you always forget to include the MQM? I mean everyone knows of their dirty laundry, yet you try to shove it under the carpet.
Be honest buddy!
I know you can be...just try.

Personally i think Javed Hashmi is not worthy of Presidency. CM or by a far stretch PM maybe.
AQ Khan would be a better choice for President. It would shock the world, something the world needs badly at this time. It will give the people's desires a voice; he is considered a national hero.

May you can counter his argument by saying whether Javed Hashmi really sent such letter or not, if such a letter was sent then it should be condemned. Dragging MQM in all arguments esp when defending a crime doesn't do any good, all it does is "if you support a criminal then we can support one too".

Personally I wouldn't want AQ Khan as president otherwise the way he has behaved it looks like he'll indulge in revenge-ism too.

Did Hashimi spread a fabricated letter or not? serious charge, should be backed up or withdrawn, since he is a president candidate.
As to A.Q.Khan - if there is one person who can give stiff competition to Zardari in looting the country or Nawas Sharief in doing damage to country, it is A.Q.Khan! I cannot believe somebody is even mentioning his name as president candidate! Do you know he is in wanted list of CIA for questioning? you want to create one more disgrace for Pakistan by having the president picked up for questioning by CIA?

Do you know he was used as a scapegoat and all his doings were with approval of then Military Generals and possibly the elected Govt?! Are you suggesting CIA would kidnap the President of a nuclear nation?!
Wow, you should consider changing your nick. It does no service to the notion you try to portray.

I am not defending Hashmi at all. And for agreement sake, i'll state if such a thing was done, then Hashmi or anyone involved should be dealt with accordingly to the fullest extent.
This fellow sa1eem has a habit of making devils out of everyone except for one.
Just setting the record straight. that's all
As far as i'm concerned, no one who's in power at the moment in any way/shape/or form is honest. The ones that are sincere have been left behind because they don't share the "get rich quick" vision like our current politicians.

People's desires have a way of doing u-turns very quickly, especially if having him in such a role would mean sanctions leading to difficulties for the people

I do not know why blame me for what I wrote? I did not tell Hashmi to be so stupid (or behave as traitor) that to show fabricated letters to public in order to create mischief and incite army to revolt against state.
If anyone produces such fabricated letter (I am putting is below) and start showing it to everyone openly so that people feel that army is divided ... then it is obvious that such person is working against Pakistan and wants anarchy and military revolt in Pakistan. Further, when such person get arrested then he says that he do not know the origin of the letter as he got it posted to him from unknown than certainly he is either lying or is an idiot to show it to public, rather he should have given it to authority concerned (army) so that they can find out the origin of the letter. Anyhow, as parliamentarian and suppose to be patriotic Pakistani, he should not be inciting revolt in army. He should also have thought that such letter may have come to him from enemy forces (like RAW or Taliban) and purpose of such letter could be only to divide Pakistan.
Anyhow, if a person is found with such letter in any country and found that he is openly inciting army to revolt, then he would be considered as doing nothing other than conspiracy against the country and would deserve punishment as it is befitting to such person who work against the state. It is only in Pakistan that such person becomes hero.

^ He offered Sardar Mengal who turned down the offer. Later reports say that Javed hashmi is not the official candidate yet.

If I say something you don't like then I should change the nick? wow! you sound like Bush saying you are with us or against us....and we all know where that led to!
Now, yes many others were involved but Khan was the center of it all and the main driver - that is why he was made the 'scape goat' as you call it. If you say others should have also been punished for risking isolation of the country you will have a point.
CIA does not have to kidnap. They have expressed open interest in questioning him which Musharraf stood up to and said no for obvious reasons. If you don't want anymore dirty laundry to be aired in public, which will only get Pakistan in deeper trouble with the world community. leave A.Q.Khan in as low a profile as possible.

They were BS charges and were already dismissed by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
He was very vocal against Musharrafs illegal dictatorship, and since they couldnt find anything wrong, corruption or embezzelment they sent him on bogus 'ghadaari' charges.

A general who over throws elected govt is not a traitor (according to you), but a man should've been hanged for (I assume for treason???) allegedly for a "fabricated letter"?
Life is a tale told by idiots... full of sound and fury signifying nothing.
