Anybody want to tell me now how Taliban are driven by revenge for American actions and how Pakistani school girls are CIA agents?

And this taliban is supposed to be the most perfect and greatest "muslim" group, and better then the current rulers of the country. I think not.

Taliban threaten to kill Pakistani schoolgirls: officials

Thu Dec 25, 4:00 am ET

ISLAMABAD (AFP) – Taliban extremists in Pakistan's troubled northwest Swat valley have banned girls from attending school, threatening to kill any female students, officials said Thursday.

The threat was delivered this week by local Taliban commander Shah Durran in an address carried on an illegally-run radio station in the area, local officials told AFP.

"You have until January 15 to stop sending your girls to schools. If you do not pay any heed to this warning, we will kill such girls," one official quoted the commander as saying.

"We also warn schools not to enrol any female students; otherwise, their buildings will be blown up."

The mountainous Swat valley was until last year a popular tourist destination featuring Pakistan's only ski resort.

But the region has been turned into a battleground since radical cleric Maulana Fazlullah, who has links to Pakistan's Taliban movement, launched a violent campaign for the introduction of Islamic Sharia law in the valley.

Durran said local Taliban leaders were determined not to allow girls to attend school, saying: "We want to enforce the true Sharia in the area -- for this, we are fighting and laying down our lives."

Swat residents said Taliban fighters had already destroyed scores of government-run schools, leading some to set up private schools in their homes to educate girls.

An official at the Pakistani education ministry said there are about 1,580 schools registered in Swat -- once known for its top-flight schools.

But the official, Naeem Khan, told AFP: "Already Taliban militants have destroyed 252 schools, mainly those where girls and boys were studying together."

Education has suffered badly in Swat as a result of the ongoing fighting between Taliban-linked militants and security forces, with only a handful of schools still open in the region's main city Mingora, Khan said.

The government had reached a deal with the rebels in May to gradually pull out troops and introduce an Islamic justice system in exchange for an end to rebel attacks, but the violence eventually resumed.

It just amazes me that even after this story, there will be many Pakistanis who will come to the defense of Taliban and will find someway to justify this. Taliban could rape and kill women, and you will still find people to defend their actions. Mullahism is like a mental disease.

^^ I agree Waahid. We must let go of religious dogma and criticize any such medieval retarded beliefs regardless of if any religion endorses it or not, directly or indirectly.

The Taliban needs to be annihilated.

One question, why has the Pak Army been so unsuccesful at dealing with these scum in Swat? I recall they were doing relatively well in the last full scale operation, but for some reason now they are completely at a loss...
Seems the Swat valley has fallen completely out of the hands of govt and the Army.

B/c it benefits army & keeps dollar meter rolling from uncle Sam which is what our generals are addicted to. If PA and the ISI really wanted to get Bin Laden & his Egyptian deputy they could have ages ago. If they want to get Mullah Radio they could've. That guy is on radio everyday. How hard is it to trace him?

This I agree with and nobody but those in charge know the bigger picture. I am pretty sure there is a larger game being played out in Pakistan and the areas near Afghanistan. God knows what it is and Allah inshallah will save us from it.

What bigger picture? What a useless attitude. When you have no explanation or defence for the jihadis you resort to these useless 'our generals must have bigger picture in mind' crap.

These scums need to be killed. Forget past associations. Today they are a huge liability on your country's future. Get rid of them.

Bigger picture? There is a bigger picture to blowing up schools and threatening to kill girls? Wow, the delusion grows deeper.

And here's one talib supporter right in this thread!

Exactly right. There have been many many reported incidents of Taliban activity next to an army post or base, with no intervention by the army. It happens almost daily. Taliban can get away in broad daylight and even burn schools down in Peshawar with no consequences. If that doesn't tell us that someone high up in Pakistan is protecting Taliban then I don't know what will.

You tell me? Where was your hatred for the army that can so easily "massacre" innocent babies of lal masjid when discussing about the same army and it's connections to mumbai attack and other terrorist activity?

^ Your hatred and love of army comes and goes based on the ethnicity of its COAS. 'Save Pakistan from the army and mollah's became 'Save army from the mollahs', and is back to what it was before, after your General was forced to resign.

That is not how I see it.

No, it comes and goes with RIGHT actions of army not based on intense personal love or hate of who is leading the army. Yours seem to be driven by only your strong obsession with one man.

Is CM also indian? He thinks letting taliban off the hook is ok due to some weird twisted "game" of ISI.
