Please Dont be angry after reading my question. You can change the history but only history written in future.
Please give me the name of anyone from Punjab of whom you can be proud but he/she should be with good personal charector also.
Please dont count Pirs / Faqirs in this list. That is the matter of Allah.

Punjab produced brave soldiers like Poros, Jaypal, Ranjit Singh, Shaikha, Jasrat, Dilloo, Saidoo, Ahmed Khan Kharal, Bhagat Singh, Lala Lajpat Rai and Mirza Qalandar. Its romantic heroes like Raja Rasalu, Puran Bhagat, Sarang and Dulla Bhatti live even today in the memory of village folk. Its Sufi saints [i know u dont want any names] and poets, who preached a message of love, include Amir Khusrao, Guru Nanak, Kabir, Data Gunj Baksh, Baba Fareed, Bahaudin Zakaria, Bulleh Shah, Sultan Bahu, Mian Mohammad and Shah Hussain. Not only great men but the Punjabi folk lore has strong willed women who dominated their beloveds – in the tales of Heer Ranjha, Sassi Punnu, Mirza Sahiban and Sohni Mahiwal.

oh. but u want recent history? come talk to me in a few centuries. I am sure we would have produced some more punjabis worthy of anyones' pride.

are you out of your mind? Are you telling me Heer Ranjha has no impact on history? Are you telling me Guru Nanek and Bulleh Shaha are not glowing parts of history? What kind of impact are you trying to find here?
Nusrat F Ali Khan, Sultan Rahi, Allama Iqbal, Anwar Maqsood, Dr. Abdus Salam are all recent names, among many.
have we forgotten Chaudhary Rahmat Ali Gujjar, the person who came up with Pakistan as the country name? (isnt that big enough of an impact on the history?)

Alam Lohar; go ask people in Punjab what he is to them. He is part of the history. I lived in Pakistan only 2 years of my childhood but I can still remember his songs sung by the pind folks. He is everwhere. Maybe that part of the history is not written yet. And hence I stated, wait a few more centuries and you will realize the full impact of these peole on the history.
And remember, GREAT people are abundant. It has NOTHING to do with geographies. I can name as many great people from Sindh, Baluchistan and Sarhad. Whats your point?
Come explain. Its your turn now.

There are a number of well known Punjabis for whom not only Punjabis but every Pakistani should be proud of
Marjor Raja Aziz Bhatti-Nishane Hyder-saver of Lahore
Flying Officer Younis shaheed who crashed his plane on 17 loaded planes with bombs in India ready to bomb Pakistani cities in 1965 war. Not only 17 planes destroyed with their pilots died but whole airport vanished in just one heroic act. India mourned and down its flag for three days.
Dr.Abdus-Salam, Nobel prize winnr in Physics
Legenday Cricketer Imran Khan
I am forgetting at least one more social worker like Edhi who normally work to release innocent persons from jails in Pakistan and India.
There must be many. Though I am not a Punjabi but I salute these heroic figures who served or serving their country well.

There are none. Perhaps Punjabi politicians and dictators who came from the back door are the most corrupt in Pakistani politics. I am sorry if I offended some one but that is the fact.

Pathetic thread Anwar Pasha, think of it bro.
Have you ever heard of Abdus Salam - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dr Abdus Salam???? ( Only Abdus Sattar Edhi comes close when you talk about his achievements)
It depends what do you mean by PROUD, there are sportsmen like Akram, Waqar, Aisam ul Haq, a lot of singers who are doing charity work, a lot of people in entertainment industry etc
Tell me how many non Punjabis can you be proud of and then i will come back to let you know.
