Its an open fact for more than a year now that Behariz of Orangi are fed up of Altaf and they will not vote for MQM this time. Therefore MQM is wetting their pants these days, as that will squeeze them in Nazimabad and FB Areas only.
If today an election is held under UN or an independent force that provides security from MQM, PPP, ANP and Jamati thugs, the results will be surprising.charah saazon se alag hai mayar mera kay main

The european election observers in their report had exposed MQMs rigging in 2008 polls.Even the election commission and sindh government has requested army help.
This seat has always been considered to stronghold area of MQM but i think ANP will give them stiff fight this time around because PPP and most other parties are supporting ANPs candidate. If elections were free and fair in karachi then MQMs seat will get confined to lalukhet and its adjoining areas.

^ Yeah ANP will give them stiff fight. In fact ANP is already giving them stiff fight. 5 MQM workers have already been killed in last 36 hours (but wo tu MQM nai khud marey hoon gai right?).
Now wait till MQM settles the score and all hell break loose on GS. MQM track record says they will most likely kill 10 ANP workers. They always double the numbers. Bloody fight goes on in Karachi!
btw, as per BBC, Election commissioner has called on Army for Election. I hope Army can enforce authority and election day passes by without any big fuss.

There should be open disarmament in the city. Of course, the MQM has openly opposed this very vehemently because they wouldn't be much of a threat once you take the ammunition away from them. In the past, they have tried to become the big machli by openly embezzling large sums of money in bigger schemes rather than surviving on street bhatta alone but it's taken a toll after the PPP joined in with them. MQM thrives and runs on fear.

CEC calls for troops deployment in PS-94
By our correspondents
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Justice (Retd) Hamid Mirza, has recommended to the Sindh government to consider deployment of troops for maintaining law and order during the by-election in Orangi Town (PS-94), sources told The News on Wednesday.
The CEC was chairing a meeting at the office of the Provincial Election Commissioner to review the arrangements for the by-election to be held on October 17.The law-enforcement officials, during their briefing, informed the meeting that there had been 22 “extremely sensitive” polling stations out of a total of 86, while the rest were also “sensitive”.
The CEC instructed the officials to review their security plan. The meeting was told that over 3,000 law-enforcement agencies personnel would be deployed to maintain the law and order situation during the by-election.
The sources said that the deployment of the troops had been suggested in view of the current political and law and order situation in the metropolis. Ensuring peaceful atmosphere was also considered necessary given the fact that an incident in one part of the city adversely affected the whole city.
The CEC reportedly asked the LEAs officials to enhance security at the entry and exit points in the constituency where carrying of weapons must not be allowed. He also sought deployment of lady constables at the polling booths who could conduct search of women in case of any eventuality. Strict checking of vehicles was also ordered.
The Provincial Election Commissioner, Sono Khan Baloch, informed the participants of the meeting about the arrangements for ensuring transparent and fair polls. There are reportedly 133,150 voters in the constituency. Five candidates are contesting for the seat of the Sindh Assembly, including MQM’s Saifuddin Khalid and ANP’s Pir Riaz Gul.
The CCPO of Karachi, Fayaz Leghari, the Secretary Implementation, Ayub Sheikh, the Special Secretary Home, Ghufran Memon, the representatives of the 5-Corps and Rangers and returning officers also attended the meeting.
The seat had fallen vacant following the assassination of the MQM’s MPA, Syed Raza Haider, on August 2. The President, Awami National Party (ANP), Sindh Chapter, Shahi Syed, insists the government deploy Army during the by-poll in PS-94, Orangi Town.
According to a press release issued from the Bacha Khan Markaz, Syed said that the Election Commission (EC) had declared 22 polling stations “very sensitive” while 64 polling stations had been declared “sensitive”.
The EC has asked the government in writing to deploy Army within the constituency to avoid any untoward situation, he said. Syed demanded that government should not reject this application and practically fulfil request so that people could appear on the polling day.
The Awami National Party (ANP) continues to change its statement and when bye-elections to PS-94 were postponed after the murder of Dr Imran Farooq , the ANP (Sindh) President, Shahi Syed, had said that there was no law and order problem and had come out against postponement.
This was stated by the Haq Parast candidate, Saifuddin Khalid, contesting from PS-94, when his attention was drawn to the ANP’s demand for the deployment of the Army on October 17 for the PS-94 elections. He said that by the grace of Allah Almighty, there was no law and order problem in Orangi Town and the election campaign was in full swing and proceeding smoothly.
