Its in the news a lot these days ...
I was just wondering that how many parents will actually go ahead and get their kids vaccinated......?!?...as it is a fairly new vaccine and people are thinking that not enough research has been done to figure out the long term effects ....
Secondly, how many mommies-to-be on board will be getting it....!??!....because pregnant women also make up one of the population groups for whom this vaccine is being strongly recommended....

My OBGYN told me not to get it, at least not yet. It is not proven to be safe amongst pregnant women yet.
She did tell me to get the regular flu vaccine, which I've never taken before.

Everyone in the family gets regular flu shot every year. And I think we will all go for the h1n1 vaccine when it comes out. My oldest son doesnt fare well when he's sick, he's ended up in the ER more than once for IV rehydration - when he's sick he can't eat or drink so a flu would really knock him over.
Even the regular Flu shot is a new vaccine every year. They develop a new vaccine based on the particular strains that are circulating.

this will be our first time getting the flu shot- i've never really needed it before, but with the whole swine flu thing, i think we should get it.
we'll also be going for the h1n1 vaccine.

Yeah. It was too late to get it from work, so I have to wait till my doctor's office has them available in mid-October.

I'm so confused about this.... I'm not in the high risk group so not getting the H1N1, I also don't get the flu shot every year..... so no shots for me, I'd rather get the flu and fight it off.
I'm mainly wondering what to do about my daughter.... she gets the flu shots every year.... and I'll probably get her the regular flu shot this year too.
Also, we're going to Pakistan in December and we all know how rampant flu is there, don't know if they have enough Tamiflu there in case she catches H1N1.... so should I get the H1N1 shot for her too (I'm kind of scared about it)?
